Irish family of 4 looking to emigrate to Perth area.

Are there many bush fires in this area, and finally, are there any problems with snakes and spiders in this area?! Is Kalamunda a friendly place to live?
What are the locals like?
Dog friendly? we desperately want to bring our 2 dogs .
Much crime in the area?
Much wildlife, ie parrots etc, would love as much as poss.
Except for snakes and spiders, thats a definate worry..should we be worried? as we have no natural predators here in Ireland, and have a 6 year old and a 20 month old baby to worry about.
Many thanks in advance

Any wooded area in Perth is a fire risk and yes there are snakes and spiders.A coastal area may be better for you as they are cooler and more dog friendly.Irish people always welcome in WA.

Having lived in both the bush and coast, I have seen more fire trucks and snakes on the coast than in the hills! We get lizards and birds on our property as well as seeing kangaroos, emus and the occassional echidna on the side of the road. Sometimes we are lucky enough to see dolphins and the odd whale, so whever you are, you will have wildlife. You need to create habitat to attract native wildlife on the coast. Obviously the types of birds etc. are different in the bush than on the coast.
Kalamunda is one of the dearer suburbs in the Perth hills, and a nice area. Don't know what the people are like.
