Reviews of King Street, Solomontown

"Walking distance from beach, central part of town, schools, very quiet, very friendly"

King Street is one street behind Main Street and is located in Solomontown. Not far from the beach (it is only two minutes walk) as well as being only a few minutes walk to the local kindy, Solomontown Primary School and John Pirie Secondary School. It is also walking distance to the main part of town where you will find the Post Office, Library, Council Offices, Service SA, various other services like the pool and TAFE, various shops and the Woolworths Mall.

This location currently has a mix of young families and retirees, so it makes for a very friendly neighbourhood. Housing in this part of Port Pirie is affordable (I can't speak for other parts of Pirie). Also, to listen for, is the singing swimmer. When the tide is right, you can hear him sing his lungs out as he swims off Solomontown Beach. He gets a bit quiet when he's a long way away, but you can always hear him coming (I think it's marvelous anyway!). Also nearby are deli's, cafes, pubs, restaurants and fast food outlets, so if you don't feel like cooking, there are plenty of places nearby for dinner.

There are school bus services operating from Solomontown Primary School which take students from there to other schools around Port Pirie, so if your child does not wish to change schools, they can take the bus instead. You will need to make prior arrangement through John Pirie Secondary School beforehand.

If you like sports, there is a soft ball training field nearby as are the football oval and cricket nets all in easy distance from King Street. So if you are active, there is plenty for you to do, and if you are inactive, there are always nice neighbours to talk to over the fence.

Most of the houses along this street are in good to reasonable condition, the street scape is pleasant, there is little traffic, little noise, some dogs along the street and a few cats, but they are pretty quiet as the owners seem to be responsible regarding their pets. Altogether a nice street to live on.
