Looking for a home in Kingston?

"Kingston hidden gem"

Lived in Logan for 25 years Kingston is the best suburb by far. I have children now grown adults and they loved the community and live here also. Quiet and central to major shopping centres and services. Mostly working parents and retirees who bought up years ago have transformed the suburb. Multicultural and thriving, I’ve never been broken into or had any issues. Everyone looks out for each other and is fantastic for transport. M1 to Brisbane 25 mins, Gold Coast 30 mins. Hospital and Uni is 15 mins. Previous commenter who called themselves “Experienced” sounds like they need a move to inner city and get some “Experience” living with those people, they also sound like they like to complain and are racist. People like that are moving away and dying off thank god! Hurry up so we can buy your house! Compassion and helping each other is what Kingston is about plenty of options and community. Kingston college has trade school within and a pool for students, Kingston race way go cart for the public, also Public heated pool, butter factory museum, wide and well kept streets, plenty of parking.

"Logan is cheap for a good reason"

I have lived in Kingston for almost 30yrs. Kingston is close to a lot of government departments that process asylum seekers, immigrants, the unemployed, mentally ill, disabled, troubled teens, people on parole etc. And I haven't mentioned all the charity groups that care for domestic volience, those having a financial crisis, homeless or drug abuse. So put two & two together and you'll notice a large portion of those type of people live here. You may think I'm exaggerating, but once you've gained the trust of somebody who's lived in Kingston for 20+ years who isn't in politics they'll tell you the same. Be prepaired to stand up to the locals who wander onto your property but in a way that doesn't humiliate them or in threatening manner. More units are being made (you'll notice they're closer to houses) to accommodate the influx of people needing the services mentioned above. Although there's an increase of homeowners in Kingston having full-time jobs, you still have to be aware of those who have too much freetime aren't be relocated to outside of Kingston.

Great for

  • The weather's great and rarely a house/property is damaged by storms.

Not great for

  • Schools are aren't focused on student's education & safety, but advancing teacher's careers.

Same distance from those services as Daisy hill, Springwood and Roachdale. Kingston is not Logan central or Woodridge, did a developer build next to you? Ohh you needed a person who owned the adjoining property and wanted to stay forever, you must have been unpleasant to live near so they sold and now u have a block of flats next to you!

"Not a bad suburb"

Hi everyone,

I live in Kingston and lived in may different suburbs in the Logan City area so I thought I would share my thoughts on Kingston. The area is basically like this, you have 1 house out of every 10 that seems to have some strange characters that you wouldnt make conversation with, however there are a lot of nice people. Close to shops and the logan motorway which is good access through to the city. Overall I have enojed my stay and havnt had to many negative experiences in the area.

Great for

  • Close to everything
  • Friendly
  • Improving in value

"good people overall and public spirited , not afraid to say hello or up themselves"

schools in abundance , medical practitioners galore and every conceivable style of shop or food outlet you could ever want.
supermarket prices are considerably cheaper than surrounding suburbs and wide main streets and roads make it a great suburb to get around.
several good quality clubs , diggers ,and the community club are both within a walk or five minutes by car , each have a vast array of cheap quality foods and smorgasbords and cheap beer for members.
i cant praise the area enough and the work the local council does to keep the district clean tidy and well presented is without a doubt the best in the Brisbane districts.
the people i have met have been more than friendly and not snobs or afraid to ask if you need a hand unlike many other suburbs , it is so much like a small country town in that aspect, truly amazing.
an easy twenty minute drive to brisbane city center and or major hospitals such as alexandria or womens hospital this area wants for nothing whether you be in ill health or on top of the world, swimming pools vast parklands , fantastic community events of all manner and multi racial people and foods of all races and creeds
i love logan and its people , for the knockers , well , get a life and pull your head out of your arse.

Great for

  • Cheap shopping , great value bargains ans super shop staff
  • Close to everything
  • Friendly
  • Improving in value

Not great for

  • Cant please everyone but considering the vast amount of schools in the district i would say that is a very broad sweeping statement with little or no thought or consideration for the teachers that work very hard for thye students that are willing and wanting to learn
  • So i find it very difficult to belive the statement that there are no good schools in logan

Rentals in Kingston

"We Love Kingston!"

We brought here as a young family in 2008, the area is improving so much, all the time, our street is awesome, neighbours are fantastic, public transport is wonderful, its affordable living (there is no way we could afford to buy in a better area) and its GREAT for being 20 mins to the city, and 30 mins to the gold coast... who could ask for more <3 nothing like popping to movieworld for a day!

Something i think everyone should know is that the schools here arent so great, though they are improving, we decided to send our children to a school in a better area (have a look at the myschool website)

Also, Kingston is NOT Woodridge or Logan Central - Kingston is its own suburb and seems much nicer than others around it <3

"Things aren't as bad as they used to be"

and I get that my experience has not been the same as others, but I have lived here for 26 years, and I am leaving. The noise, the fights, the yelling. It's too much.

"Extremely affordable quiet open suburb with great shopping nearby excellent transport huge potential"

Being an investor in Kingston for the past few years I can honestly say its been the best investment we have made thus far when it comes to capital returns. Also rental returns are very strong in Kingston and the house prices are still very low compared to the rest of Australia. Now actually having moved in and living there i can see why. Its very close to the CBD and also very close to surfers paradise. Either way you have the best of both worlds and youre in the middle. Lands are huge and have big potentials. Having the hyperdome only 10 mins away is awesome for shopping or eating out. Its peaceful and quiet. Train line is easily accessible for anyone in Kingston. Local shops are very handy and traffic is non existent. So either for investor or owner occupier eg, young family or retired couple. Its a great place to live or invest in. I think it will really grow and populate as time goes by because of its position along the M1.

"Matured into a nice community"

Kingston, like many suburbs along the Brisbane-Coast corridor had humble beginnings. But those locals are getting older and the community is really close. Everyone helps each other out, and the atmosphere is really lovely. Really close to a lot of shopping, and plenty of parks for the kids. Great working class suburb, where a young family can still afford a home close to everything.

"great place to commute from, a quiet place to live"

Kingston is a central area along the Queensland south rail line within Logan. I lived in a quiet street about two blocks from the train station. It was a quiet friendly and rather close neighborhood. The convenience of having the Gold coast-Brisbane train line along with the M1 and Ipswich motorway so close made commuting to work in the healthcare industry easy and effortless.

"Great place for family and young professionals"

I have lived in Kingston and found it was a great neighborhood. It has great access to main roads, public transport, Tertiary institutions and Logan city Hospital. Commuting to the Gold coast and Brisbane is very easy with the train station and M1 so close. The neighbors were friendly and i certainly had no problems with finding a place for kicking the footy with so many parks and facilities in the area. A great family oriented suburb!

I have been looking at a property and after looking at crime rate have decided not to proceed any further. The last quarter there were 6 crimes/offenses committed at or next to the properties. The crime report site doesn't pinpoint exactly which house but you know when you look at the street. All the above comments, no one actually share concerns about this crime factor?
