Reviews of Lawes Street, Hawthorn

"The best of everything"

When we first moved here I could never have imagined how perfect the area would be.

An easy walk to 2 tram lines, moments from the train, minutes to both freeways and a short walk to Victoria Gardens makes it so accessible - but somehow it’s quiet, calm and leafy.

Just a block back from the river and parks, it gives a suburban feel with all the benefits of inner-city life.

I am still blown away at how easy it is to get almost anywhere from here.

A quick walk to our favourite cafe and the pub is brilliant (but dangerous) and the GP clinic and pharmacy at the end of the street have saved us more than once.

Couldn’t recommend it more

"Peaceful, Private, and Full of Heart"

We absolutely love our street! It’s one of those rare places that truly has it all. Tucked away in a beautiful, leafy pocket, it has a peaceful, village-like atmosphere while still being incredibly well connected. With the Yarra River just a short stroll away, there are endless opportunities for walking, running, or cycling along the scenic trails.

What really sets this street apart is the sense of community. Many of the homes are owner-occupied, and the neighbours are genuinely kind, respectful, and always happy to lend a hand. We often enjoy casual street gatherings and little parties, it’s the kind of place where everyone knows each other’s name and looks out for one another.

Being a quiet, dead-end street means there’s barely any traffic, making it especially safe and serene. Perfect for families, nature lovers, or anyone seeking a bit of calm. And with public transport just around the corner, getting into the city or exploring nearby areas is easy and convenient.

It’s the kind of street people fall in love with, and we’re genuinely sad to be leaving such a special place.
