private/public schools in north suburbs of Perth y7-11?

We are due to move in nov 2017. My husband has a job offer in the madeley area. We applied for St.Stephens in carramar as it happened to have a space but heard mixed reviews so any other recommendations would be welcome. We currently have some flexibility in terms of location so long as the drive to and fro madeley is around 20mins max. We would look to rent initially, close to the school of choice so the kids can walk or take a short bus ride. Having looked at the ranking of schools, majority appears to be private but I know irrespective of ranking, actual people's experiences may be different.
