Mooroolbark is a developing suburb where in the past 5 years has changed from a quiet suburb to a busy hive of activity. The shopping strip is very busy with many shopping options from food stores to cafes. The real estate prices have also greatly improved. Due to this development, the population has grown and changed. There are more young families and community spirit has formed which assists in improving the safety of the suburb. I believe it is like most suburbs where you need to ensure that you secure your property in order to deter any undesirables.

Safe is a very ambiguous question, safe from what? Traffic, sex offenders, theft and robbery, violence, Food poisoning, drugs? :-) In reality, the traffic is modest apart from Manchester Road level crossing from 3:00pm onwards, pedestrian and wheelchair access is excellent, very low crime rate according to the RACV crime statistics, never had any issues with food poisoning. Sex offenders, well they would struggle here, short of being stoned to death or publically flogged. These people are cleaver at hiding themselves but if found out the justice would be swift and non-tolerant, let's just leave it at that. Drugs and alcohol are going to kill the person taking them, there's no helping that sort of thing, but it isn't like in inner Melbourne, don't expect a soft shoulder to cry on, your bed you made it. All in all the suburb would likely take the view that kids come first, elderly and families are next in line. All other variations of that model and bad behaviour are up for debate.
