Mornington, VIC 3931 is located within the Mornington Peninsula local government area, part of the Melbourne (Greater) Region in Victoria.
We live in London, moving to Aus in a couple of years, really love Mornington; we'll need to get into the city a couple of times a week, and don't really want to drive.

Check out http://ptv.vic.gov.au/ there is a 'journey planner' on the website that gives you a great idea of the travel time and how many changes you'll need to make to get from A to B.
Myki train tickets can be pretty annoying to new comers to Victoria as you usually need to pre-purchase them (from your local newsagent) and load them with credit before using bus or tram transport; though you can buy and load them at any station. So make sure you organise your ticket before attempting to catch a bus or train.
