Moving from Darwin to Mossman Qld
Mossman, QLD 4873 is located within the Douglas local government area, part of the Far North Region in Queensland.
Hi,
My partner and I own a home in Darwin (small mortgage still to pay). We are both in our late 50's and are thinking about retiring in about 5 years and selling our home here in Darwin, Palmerston and buying just a 2 bedroom house outright in the Mossman area. We need room for a fishing boat and our two active blue heeler x dogs. We just love the Mossman area as it is a small country town but not far from the amenities that Cairns has to offer. We are ok with renovating a place as long as it is in reasonable condition to start off with.
I am looking to hear from others that have either moved to the Mossman area or locals who can give me a further insight on what it is like to live in that community.
Kind Regards
Vivien

Hello Vivien. I moved to the region 11 years ago from Darwin. I wouldn't go back, even thought I grew up in Darwin. Comparing the two, FNQ has
better outdoor activities (yes, even including barra fishing)
much better climate
cheaper prices
Great Barrier Reef
less congestion - you can still find bush creeks that are deserted and croc-free
No Deckchair Cinema though
