Reviews of Mount Morgan, QLD

"Great country town with friendly people"

I’ve recently purchased in mount morgan and been up there a number of times. The first time I went up there on a Friday night and drank at the local pub on the Main Street where I was sure I would learn very quickly what the people were like.

Probably nearly the most friendly community I’ve ever visited. Everyone was polite, there were no fights or things of that nature. Through the day time it’s exactly the same. People walk around a lot as everything is close by and it has all the facilities you would require to probably not have to drive down the mountain if you didn’t need to.

Also the two pubs I spent a bit of time at both have world class steak for good prices. Some of the best steaks I’ve had are from mount morgan.

Whoever is writing these bad reviews just completely ignore it I’ve lived all over the country and it has one of the nicest country town feels I’ve ever come across.

"Beautiful Country Town with All Amenities"

I have lived in Mount Morgan for several years now and must say that it has been one of the nicest places I've lived. The people are friendly. There are shops, hospital, doctors surgeries, chemist, schools and all the other modern conveniences that you will find in a much larger town without the traffic and noise of a big city.

"Forget the sea change; try a tree change"

25 mins from Rocky, 4 degrees cooler and houses are half the price.... stop paying the bank all your hard-earned $$ and save $ for your overseas trip! The Mount has all the facilities you need and ideal for those who appreciate our history and heritage. I've driven the inland highway from Brisbane to Rocky looking at other regional towns and I believe the Mount is the best on offer. The dam is perfect for swimming or boating and with so many hills around, there is a view on nearly every corner. As with any place, all kinds of people live there.... teachers, sales people, artists, cooks, business owners, retirees... Its an interesting and affordable place to live.

"A Small Caring Community"

After living in Mount Morgan for 9 years, we find the people very friendly and plenty of activities to keep any retired person busy. There are 2 bowls clubs, card games, hoy, bingo, community dances, all sports facilities, council swimming pool, just to name a few regular daily activities. You can drive without the worry of parking metres or finding a parking space or traffic lights.. Mt Morgan has 2 doctors surgeries, hospital, fire station, ambulance, nursing home, primary and high schools, SES, local police station, nursing home, QCWA for women, Masonic lodges and Buffalo Lodge for men, golf club and tennis and squash court. All this for a population of around 3,000. Mt Morgan is Queensland's well kept secret and is an ideal quiet peaceful little town enjoyed by many retirees. The crime rate is also low, and people can feel safe without locking themselves inside their homes at night or locking cars. There is also a glorious recreation area and dam stocked with fresh water fish for fishing, plus boating facilities.

Great for

  • All of the above

Not great for

  • No regular organised night life, no fancy restaurants but the nightlife of Rockhampton is only half and hour away.

"Great for First Home Buyers and those who like space."

Great place to bring up children. You can purchase a house or large block of land at a very reasonable price. Weather is nicer than Rockhampton, not so humid. Lots of very nice residents both long term and newly arrived. The schools are really good and wonderful health facilities. Yes there are some people who are inconsiderate and don't respect the laws and other people's rights - no different to other places. There are many community activities if that is your thing and we enjoyed the time we lived there.

Rentals in Mount Morgan

"A great place for semi-retired trades people"

This is a small heritage-type village in the mountains 1/2 hour from Rockhampton and another 1/2 from the Capricorn Coast. It is an ex-gold-mining town, and it is suggested that the mine will be re-opening in the next couple of years. There is a lot of industry within an hour's drive, but the homes are inexpensive and there are very few trades people in Mount Morgan. So it would be an ideal place for someone who wants to only work part-time or who wants to be semi-retired.

HI Mount Morgan is the ass of the world driving out of there was a big relief
the people there are so much unfriendly and if your a dummy and rent your house to the hillbillys living there you will not get your rent money and you will get your house trashed :{{ . The best thing i ever did was get out of that place.

That has to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. Before moving to Mount Morgan I lived on the Sunshine Coast. We had more people be nice, hold a conversation and just nod and smile in the 2.5 days we were in town looking for property, than in 2 years living on the Sunshine Coast.
The people are just plain nice. The feeling of the township is warm and accepting. It felt like home.
Just like anywhere you go there are bad people and good people. I don't know what you encountered in the Mount to be so negative, but you have obviously had a far different experience than I have and I have been living here for 8 months. My neighbors are wonderful, the shop keepers, hospital staff and 99.9% of all the people I have met in town have been friendly and decent people.

Warm and friendly atmosphere, I'd much rather live and invest on the Mountain than anywhere on the coast thank you very much! If you rent a house out without going through an agent, which is what I presume has happened, then no matter where it is you invest, chances are you will have problems, hillbilly tenants exist everywhere. I'm not a stirer and Mount Morgan police have never told me to leave.
