Reviews of Murrumba Downs, QLD

"Love it"

We moved here in Nov 2022 from Melbourne. It ticks all the boxes safe, family orientated, friendly people, convenient close to shops and shopping centre.

The only down side might be schools for the kids very limited vacancies on good schools and child care in the area. Get them in early.

"Convenient"

It's a good spot as it's easy to jump on the Bruce Highway and get to Sunshine or Gold Coast. Only a few minutes to major shops and lots of healthcare. One star off as it's getting busier.

"The good and the bad"

The train station has been a good addition since 2016 but my concern is still it’s proximity to public housing in north lakes/Kalangur area. The schools are quite hit and miss and there is a strong bogan influence in this area of Brisbane. I left in 2021 so not sure how it is now but I wouldnt move back. I prefer south Brisbane as the schools are higher quality.

"A great, friendly place to live!"

I have been in living in Murrumba Downs for quite some time now and I love it! Everyone around is so friendly. There is easy access to schools, shops, the highway and even has a medical centre. The city isn’t that far if a drive. Public transport is also pretty good. There are lots of train stations around and busses. There are parks for kids and lots of yummy restaurants and cafes around. I think this place is good for any type of living, whether it’s to retire or start a family.

Rentals in Murrumba Downs

"A fantastic place to live"

We moved here over a year ago and I absolutely love it. We have fantastic neighbors and we look out for each other. The council is very thorough in keeping the suburb clean and tidy. When a metal sign post got damaged the council workers were there the very next day replacing the sign. Same with any graffiti - the council removes it within a week. The new train station at Murrumba Downs opened two months ago and we also have the bus stop in the next street. You also have the Westfield North Lakes/IKEA/Costco and movie cinemas only a 6 minute drive away as well. A great place to live.

Great for

  • Quite, peaceful, large homes, large yards, access to
  • Supermarkets, shops, schools, eating out, shopping centres etc
  • Excellent medical facilities
  • Fantastic access to sunshine coast, airport & Gold coast

"Murrumba Downs- Quiet Peaceful place to live"

Recently moved to Murrumba Downs and loving it. Such a quiet change from living in the inner city. Big houses, big yards and soooooo quiet..!! Everything seems to be at our fingertips, supermarket, shops, schools and Northlakes shopping centre is only a 5-10 minute drive. The only downfall is the mosquito's, which seemed to have settled a bit since the council has sprayed the mangroves and we've been warned about snakes, because we have large boulders at the side of our house, which most houses seem to have in this area. We've had one green tree snake make itself known from these rocks so far, hopefully that will be the only one.!! Overall, we are very happy with the move.... such a relaxing and quiet place to live.

Great for

  • Quite, peaceful, large homes, large yards, access to
  • Supermarkets, shops, schools, eating out, shopping centres etc

Not great for

  • Mosquito's

"my residents view"

i live here and it is absolutely fabulous! there is older houses and the 1 year-old ones. Neighbours are fab. Really quiet. we often get wildlife in our pools, (aka. we used to live in castle hill near a billabong and had gotten about 5 turtles in ours) magnificently rare birds, carpet snakes, green tree frogs and we also can grow fruit, vegetables and other plants really well. we live in Masjakin ct behind Living faith private school so we can walk to school each day. our neighbours are real nice and join in with all celebrations eg. street xmas partys, all our blocks are about a 1/4 acre. all the areas are nice in Murrumba Downs North quarter, castle Hill, the old people blocks and the parts that are not named. I would never have a single doubt of moving here and you shouldn't either. A great place for families, couples and singles. murrumba downs is quite a large area. there are all diffrent landscapes here. there is a lake, a billabong, forest, farming, grassland and of course suburbia.

"Another one of the new suburbs on the north of Brisbane"

These suburbs get me down, but this does have good access to the Highway and a quick trip to the Sunshine Coast or the city. Always worried when a suburb is defined by what it is close to.

"Great Access to Sunshine Coast, Redcliffe, City"

Have lived in this area since it was mainly Pineapple farms, Murrumba Downs has developed for the better and provides a quite easy life style that is still close to the Sunshine Coast and City. Public transport has improved and with the government's promise of a train station at neighbouring Kallangur will become even more convenient. Telstra have recently built a new mobile base at the local shopping centre so mobile phone reception has increased also. Great place to live!

"quite little suburb with good access to the highway"

I am some what living in Murrumba Downs, in the street we live in we do not have very good internet connection or mobile phone reception. The highway is noisy, but no one around us seems to mind it.

We have two small boys and the park up the road could be better.

I like being in a court its very safe for the kids to play and everyone in our neighbour hood is very quite and keep to themselves, but are also polite and friendly.

Its close to a few shops, along with medical centre, the schools are very close by and day care if needed and also good to have close access to the highway for work.

This will not be a place we plan to live for long term but its has been a good for now.

"Such a friendly neighbourhood"

Having moved into Murrumba Downs from interstate, the 1st thing we noticed was how friendly and welcoming all the neighbours were! Apart from their warmth, the suburb is so central to everything - the train station is a short drive away, the local Coles & medical facilities are a walk away with Northlakes a 5 minutes drive away.

We took a gamble on the suburb as we didn't know all that much about it, but can see ourselves living in Murrumba Downs for life.

"Who would want to live in the city"

What a great post, 40 mins to the Sunshine Coast, 30 mins to the ctiy,15 mins to International / domestic Airport, 5 mins to deep water access boat ramp, and a growing Westfield (Northlakes) only a short 5 min drive away. Everything you need is close by and all intergrated into leafy, friendly, modern suburbs.

Schools are a plenty, with quality on offer in both private and Public schools.

we have lived in Murrumba Downs for over 12 years and I have trouble finding an area that has as much to offer. Take a drive and see for yourself. This is a safe, family friendly environment that continues to offer great capital growth and has tremondous prospects for the future.

"Quality area with access to everywhere!"

Lots of good quality yet affordable estates in the area - for example Riverwood, River Terraces, North Quarter. All served by good schools, both State and private.

The Castle Hill estate is probably the best suburban residential area on the North side of Brisbane (which means it's the best anywhere in Brisbane) and is still somewhat under valued. It's the Hamilton Hill of the North - owner-occupied residential, not rental as N Lakes is becoming with its ever reducing blocks and ever increasing prices..

Central Brisbane is only 30 Minutes away, 15 minutes to the beach at Redcliffe, and not too far to the Sunshine Coast. Local shopping is good, and North Lakes, Lawnton, Strathpine, Carseldine and even Aspley and Chermside shopping centres are an easy drive away.

We were recently made a superb offer for our house (in Castle Hill) and seriously looked at moving out. We couldn't find anywhere worth going to! We couldn't find the access, the convenience, the comfort and quality we already have at Murrumba Downs and turned down the money.

Could you tell me did the river flood in that big flood near Castle Hill and is there a mosquito problem, we would dearly love to purchase in Castle Hill in 2016, so hope you can answer my questions and any other wise advice you can give would be so much appreciated, Regards Noelleen

Over the last 2 years I have established myself as the only agecny withing the suburb in the Murrumba Downs shopping centre. Over that time I have enjoyed working and living within the area. When the time is right for you to buy your next home please feel free to come down to my office and I will provide you with all the information you need.

Thinking of moving to the area. Could someone please tell me what the internet connection is like? Also what is the mobile phone reception like? Thanks:)
