Oatley West is definitely the better side to live on. Marine Drive in particular is a beautiful winding street that is lined with waterfronts. Some look out onto Oatley Park which offers the most serene view. Less noise pollution from boats and jetskis that other parts of Oatley experience. Other reasons Oatley West is the side to be on is; Less units and villas; Better Cafes that happen to be very kid/family friendly; Youll be in catchment for Oatley West PS which is the more sought after public school in the area.
I think the beautiful, tree-lined Burke Crescent - a lovely waterview cul-de-sac overlooking the water - and nearby Freeman Avenue, both streets within walking distance to the gorgeous Oatley Park are the best streets in Oatley. Oatley West is the best part of Oatley because it doesn't have the crowds, units and traffic that impacts Oatley East.
I personally have 3 favourites:
Russell Street, Imagine a tree-lined avenue that curves gently toward the water of Oatley Bay, where each residence whispers “exceptional” in its architecture and setting. Russell Street is the kind of place where families trade the bustle of the city for the serenity of a semi-rural lifestyle—yet remain just a train stop from the CBD. From my vantage as a buyer’s agent, what sets this street apart is the parcel size, the tranquillity, the elevated vista of the bay, and the fact that houses here regularly close north of $3 million.
Letitia Street, Letitia Street feels like a boutique enclave within Oatley—wide blocks, new-era homes, and the rare combination of proximity to the village shops, train station and parklands. From my experience working with buyers here, the draw is two-fold: accessibility and distinction. You can walk to the café precinct or catch the train into the city, yet you’re on a street where only the select few reside.
Gungah Bay Road, On Gungah Bay Road you get something rare: elevated outlooks, sense of space and a whisper of waterfront living that many suburbs can’t deliver. When I show clients through this neighbourhood, you can feel the difference in the morning light—water glints, breeze slips in from the estuary, and you’re still close enough to the train yet far enough to feel you’ve escaped the city. From a buyer’s-agent lens, it’s ideal for those wanting more than just four walls: they want views, prestige.
For beautiful houses and big street is Mi Mi street
Marine Drive is by far the best street in Oatley which is also in the sought after area of Oatley West which is much quieter and close to the famous Oatley Park and close to the Mulga Road shops which has best cafes and restaurants in Oatley.
Marine Drive also has a waterfront side with some homes getting spectacular views of Oatley Park if your home backs onto Jewfish Bay. These waterfronts also get magical sunsets every evening.

I think the beautiful waterside Freeman Avenue, Burke Crescent and Burke Streets are much nicer than Marine Drive which is a very narrow street in which it is almost impossible to park. Freeman Avenue, Burke Cresc and Burke Streets are peaceful, leafy with a short walk to Oatley Park and everything it has to offer.
