What is the north v south of the river issue with living in Perth?

No 'issue' as such - as someone who has lived on both sides of the river, each side has its nice areas and not-so-nice areas. You will find though that some people who have only ever lived 'south' will have very strong views and wouldn't contemplate moving 'north' (and vice versa).
