Reviews of Plateau Road, Bilgola
"Serene Suburbia - great community."
Bilgola Plateau is a leafy, serene location topping the area between, and above, Mona Vale, Newport and Avalon. The locals are known as ‘Hill-Billies’.
Plateau Rd is a long road winding up from the roundabout at the northern end of The Bends, to the top of the steep hill, where it levels out. The level section at the top is home to a service station, a wonderful preschool, a playground and the much respected Bilgola Plateau Primary School.
At the southern end of this stretch, before it descends down the other side of the hill, is a little row of shops, pivotal to the local community.
There is the Bilgola Veterinarian Clinic, Corella Catering (not only catering, but delicious take home meals and cakes), and the wonderful Hilltop Deli. The deli has been recently taken over by Corella’s, and is now a lovely cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, serving fabulous light meals and cakes, as well as their take home dinners, and gourmet cheeses, bread, olives, pate etc. They are also child friendly, providing a box of toys.
This is the local hub of the area, and many members of the community regularly gather here, especially after delivering children to the school, or walking the dog. It’s rather a more down key location than the busier village centres nearby.
