Perth vs Port Macquarie for a family to live?

Myself,Husband and two children are looking at emigrating next year. I am a mental health nurse my husband works in account management within FMCG. We have had our hearts set on Perth north of the river for over 8 years now but Port Macquarie has now caught our eye! The only problem really with this area is whether it is somewhere you could live and work as opposed to just holidaying? Any help/advice would be great many thanks:)

I am an English lady and have lived in Perth and now live in Coffs Harbour, not far from Port Macquarie. Perth is hotter and drier and bigger. It is probably more expensive these days as most people are involved with oil and gas or mining and get good wages. It is a big city and has most things you would need but is very isolated from the rest of Australia over here on East Coast. Very different places, why not come over and travel around and see where you really want to settle. I'd prefer to stay on the East Coast now but there are some nice places in WA...
Good luck anyway and let me know if I can help any more.

Hi we are moving to Port Macquarie from UK in October, could I ask if you know the best areas to look for rental properties. I have job waiting for me but would like to find a nice area for my wife while I am working all the hours. Thanks

There are some terrific opportunities in Port Macquarie for people with the experience that you two have. Employment opportunities abound plus it is the best place to raise a family. I would not bring up my kids anywhere else.
