Portland, VIC 3305 is located within the Glenelg local government area, part of the Western District Region in Victoria.
I would seriously consider moving myself and kids here, but I need to know if there is a sandfly/midge problem here. Have lived in a bad sandfly place in Qld, and don't want to go through that again. Could a local reply here please, or at least someone who has experienced a full summer in Portland Vic.

Spent two weeks in Jan fee yrs ago. One week camping at Cape Bridgewater, beautiful beach, fantastic meals at cafe. Other week camping on a bush property closer to Portland. A few mozzies but as you would expect close to a dam. No sandflies or midges at either place that I recall.
If you WANT sandflies, try Loch Sport. I love the whole Gippsland coast, esp The Prom except for those sandflies. But mainly around March I found.
