"Car is for weekends"

Living in the CBD is great, everything you want is within walking distance and you are usually spoilt for choice. The only times I leave the CBD is to visit friends, play sports, or buy something unusual. On the bad side it is always noisy unless you escape to the peace of Botanical or Roma St gardens, and somewhat smelly during peak hour traffic, and far to many false fire alarms going off without any fires burning. But the convenience makes it worth it, plus the river and city views are gorgeous. Outside of office hours the area is relatively empty and there is space to do as much or little as you like. If you want to crash a wedding or congregate with the faithful there are plenty of churches. Or you can explore what little history Brisbane has left to offer you.
But that is the CBD in general. Every street in the CBD has a similar tale to tell.
Queen St in particular is great because it has the Treasury Casino, Wednesday markets, Queen St Mall, General Post Office, brilliant views of the river and Storey Bridge. It is bustling yet pedestrian friendly at the southern end, seriously tall yet relaxed at middle, and the northern end is almost part of Fortitude Valley. For me, living in the middle section of Queen St, I have everything close by but thankfully not so close as to feel claustrophobic or constricted.

"Inner city house or Sky home?"

If moving to Brisbane the options are endless. Cheap affordable circa or historic homes or your very own home in the sky with all the facilities. Nowadays more and more people are opting to buy or rent inner city apartments in Brisbane.

With demand so high and supply still relatively low prices in the city can be steep for both buying and renting. Although the lifestyle and close proximity to work make this one the most desired locations to live in the world.

If you did a comparison and listed 100 of the most expensive cities in the world i would be sure the brisbane would be in the bottom 50. Proving prices are still cheap in this city and with mortgage rates so low is it time to buy in Brisbane? i definately think so =)
