Reviews of Reichelt Avenue, Montmorency

"Great community vibe!"

Reichelt Ave Montmorency is a fantastic street to live in. Reichelt Ave is the only street with that name in Melbourne.

Neighbours are friendly, and will talk with you. It is a street with a nice mix of older couples, and couples with children of all ages. It is a mix of professional people, as well as tradesmen, which makes a unique blend for the community.

The houses vary from old original homesteads which were once part of the original farms in the area, to modern structures built in more recent years. The blocks of land are generally large quarter acre blocks. It is a very safe community, with very little crime.

The area is undulating with an extensive tree canopy, which is protected by the local Banyule Council. There are birds and possums everywhere, and it is not uncommon to see owls from time to time.

The local shopping centre in Were St is renowned as a great place for a coffee or lunch. Unlike bigger impersonal centres, it has all the essentials including a supermarket, butcher, newsagent, bakeries, etc. You can get to know your local traders on a first name basis. If you wish, you have easy access to the historic area of Eltham, and a major shopping centre is at Greensborough, both only 3 km away.

Reichelt Ave has easy access to public transport, buses are nearby, and the train is at the bottom of Were St. It takes about 25 minutes to drive to the Melbourne CBD in off peak hours, and about 40 minutes by train. The city is about 23 km from Monty.

There are several primary and secondary schools in the area. The area is abundant with parklands and walking tracks, being only about 1 km from extensive parklands along the Yarra River. It is not hard to keep fit in this area.

Each December, the houses at the bottom end of Reichelt Ave put on a magnificent Christmas Light display. This brings out people from all over Melbourne, as well as all the local residents, further adding to the great sense of communtiy in this street.

This is why Reichelt Ave is the Number 1 street in Monty!

Have been living in christmas light end of Reichelt ave,for about 12 years ,my children have a wonderful life in this area and have developed great relationships with the other kids in the area. The public transport is great, train 10 mins walk and bus to Boxhill 5 mins walk from us.There are heaps of schools in the area, within walking distance, public and private. Doncaster shopping centre 10mins drive, Eltham and Greensborough 5mins and just uder 10 mins. We can also drive into the country in under 15mins. The airport is about 25 to 30 mins drive along the ring road. This would have one of the best suburbs in Melbourne and still at great prices but going up.
