Any regulations with clearing a heavily treed block
Russell Island, QLD 4184 is located within the Redland local government area, part of the Brisbane Region in Queensland.
We are looking at moving to Russell Island to retire and free up some of money to enjoy our life. I have been offered a heavily treed block at a very good price. Are there any regulations regarding tree removal and if not can anyone suggest a good tree clearing company and if so what cost would this add to the purchase price? Thanks

Hi Elizabeth, a cheap block can end up being an expensive block. I am a Builder on the Island, so have vast experience in this area. A heavily treed block can cost 7-12k to clear, a vacant block may also require a survey to define the boundaries at about 700, also needs a water connection, if the water main is on your side of the road about 1700, if it's on the other side of the road then about 2700.
Now you can't cut the trees or clear your block unless you have a Building Approval, so be careful, or you could catch the ire of the Local Authority.
