Reviews of Stanley Street, Glenroy

"Quiet, green, convenient"

Our street is quiet and leafy, and properties are generally well maintained and presented.

We are surrounded by really lovely, kind and friendly people who are happy to stop and have a yarn or ask how you are going.

We love the local area and local community.

Public transport is a very easy 10-15 minute walk which saves us the hassle of driving and finding parking.

With lots of new developments, we are seeing the area become more and more gentrified.

We definitely think our street is one of the nicer ones, particularly being so close to Oak Park.

"Oak Park vibes - an absolute hidden gem"

We have been living in Glenroy for close to 10 years now. We love the area, in particular the friendly neighbours, quiet street and convenience to the city.

Most people buying in the area are young families noting the affordable price point (for land/space), and number of childcare centres and schools within walking distance.

The local area is also home to lots of dog lovers. The north can often feel like it's lacking greenery, so we feel spoilt being a short walk away from the Kingsford Smith Ulm reserve which runs along the Moonee Ponds Creek. The recently built dog park at the top of the hill is fully fenced, well maintained and very convenient to get to. The dogs and people are friendly and well behaved, and if you have young children - there is a play ground and public facilities available there too.

The A&A estate is a really tight knit community given the closed off nature of the streets. We know many of the local residents from our regular walks and love the community spirit.

Over our time living in the area there has been increased investment from the local council in planting trees, as well as improving roads and services in the area. Additionally, as more properties are being snapped up everyone is putting a little more time and $$$ into improving their own homes or making more of an effort to maintain their frontage.

Our pocket is right between the Glenroy train station and the Oak Park train station, both of which are around a 15 minute walk away. From Oak Park, it's around a 30 minute train ride to the city. Driving takes a similar amount of time without tolls in low traffic.

Despite the sketchy vibes you get at the local Coles Glenroy, the people are harmless and it seems to be centralised around the station. The local area feels very safe (we walk everyday to and from the station) and have never had a bad encounter. This side of the tracks feels more akin to the Oak Park area than it does to the Hadfield side of Glenroy.

While the suburb itself is pretty sleepy (which we love), it's very easy to get across to Brunswick, Coburg, Essendon, Moonee Ponds or Ascot Vale if you're looking for a bit more activity and night life.

We would absolutely recommend this neighbourhood to anyone who was looking!
