Strettle Road, Glen Forrest, WA 6071

Cross sections of the area indicate Strettle Road Mahogany Creek is the highest point on a line that follows approximately the Great Eastern Highway. Much of our road is built up on only one side. The green bands supported by our shire have meant that large areas of virgin bush remain on the south side of Strettle Road Mahogany Creek. The native wildflowers and the walks these spaces provide make Strettle Road unique for us. The Mahogany Creek section of the road is sealed and some street lighting means sections are not in total darkness at night. Lot sizes vary between approximately 10 acres and half an acre - nothing smaller. Each home has a septic system for waste water disposal and that works fine on these lot sizes. Mundaring Shire provides a transfer station within 3-4 km of Strettle Road which means larger items of waste can be taken by small trailer. Swan Transit buses serve part of Strettle Road hourly - more often at peak times. Strettle Road is leafy green and fortunately most residents want to keep it that way. Kangaroo Paw grow in profusion by the road in season as do other indigenous plants. People living along this road have the best of two worlds. Its so close to so many vibrant Perth hills communities - yet the semi rural atmosphere provides the isolation and rest we all need at times. There are some downsides: The gravel rock common to this area can be frustrating for keen gardeners. Some dog owners allow barking to disturb the peace and quiet of the area. An orographic effect means the area receives approximately twice the annual rainfall of metropolitan Perth. On Strettle Road daily temperatures can be 2-3 degrees hotter or colder that most of the city down on the coastal plain.
