Hideous suburb where you will be blessed with trash all over the streets, parks and bushland. Newcomers tend to bring their old dirty habits and ruin the area for others. Wouldn’t live here even if I was paid to.

We like living here.

I lived everywhere around affordable Melbourne and finally settled in craigieburn. It's not kew Armadale or northcote. But still ok. Livable. Better than outer west or outer south east suburbs. They got no infrastructure. IMHO craigieburn is the only affordable suburb in Melbourne with proper public transport, schools, parks splash etc. It will be even better after all those roadworks complete. If craigieburn is on the eastern side of Melbourne, price would've been above 1m by now. Only downside is its nearer to Broadmeadows.

remarkably only 33km from the CBD.I can honestly say i think its a great suburb, plaza, station, many parks,8 schools within 4km.3 shopping centre with in 2-3 km.more then 8 child care centre.

Moved here in Craigieburn Highlands five years ago and loved it. living here specially for young families is amazing all amenities on door step, heaps of kids parks, schools, shopping centres and open spaces and very modern infrastructure.

Rubbish everywhere, ugly buildings.

Shocking traffic and terrible drivers. Pretty standard to be cut off at roundabouts or difficult intersections. Train station is right over to the far east of the suburb. Craigieburn Central is such a nice design, so nice to get some sunshine and fresh air, rather than being stuck inside a plaza. Excellent dog walking tracks and parks with native vegetation. Amazing views from Mt Ridely Lookout. Well priced for a quiet northern suburb right off the Hume Freeway.

It is a great suburb to buy a house, as it will increase in value. I have lived here since 2011. I have seen it grow and sort out teething issues such as ongoing loud noise parties constantly, hooning reduced etc.

I think now it is just so busy and schools or councils have not equipped themselves for the high volume of traffic at schools during drop off and pick ups.

If you look different , such as wild hair colour, piercings or just look different to everyone else, you certainly stand out in this suburb where everyone is the same with cars, the way they dress or even act. It gets kind of boring. I would only recommend this suburb if you like to create a scene with being different and have confidence

It has taken ages for the police to catch nuisance unlicenced and unregistered motorbike riders causing havoc on the streets and nearly hitting cars and pedestirans.
Like most of these estates, the people borrow the exact amount from the bank, spend it to furnish the house, buy a car to look like they have money and keep up with the jonese and then when they move in, they have nowhere to go because they have spent all their cash. I see the same car parked on the street all the time which would of cost a lost to begin with and register!
Overall, this suburb is good for families - the library is good to access activities, the parks are spacious to make up for the small blocks of land on offer. There isn't many kid stuff to do like play centres but it is what you make of it.
The shops are usual but nothing majorly special and the shopping centre wasn't designed well to meet the heat and wet weather.

We moved here from Ballarat Vic as most people there are a little backward thinking and we wanted to be closer to Melb without moving into CBD or being over mortgaged. Fabulous green space everywhere & kind people. Great shops & parks. Loving seeing the ducks land in the pond out front of our home & the kangaroos jump through the open fields. Best move we ever made 😁

If you can’t afford anywhere else within Melbourne, Craigieburn is the place for you. You’ll get all positives and negatives that you can expect from a low socioeconomic zone.

craigieburn is one of the best suburbs but dnt know why its ranked over 300.i used to live in many expensive suburbs in south east melbourne but i found craigieburn is more beutiful n well planned than those suburbs.

New affordable homes, new facilities e.g. pools, shopping centre, shops and cafes, all good.

But the increase in rubbish dumping around new estates is shocking. Especially around parks, I have a little one who is constantly picking up junk left on the ground from other families kids.

The lack of respect for sharing the roads is also terrible, people casually driving above speed limits, late night burnouts, red light running, I fear for all the parents and their children who walk the foot paths for just staying safe.

Personally, Craigieburn is a nice place to start a new family, but I'm over the bad behaviour on the roads around here. Culture of cutting each other off just so you can get to the next set of traffic lights 200m down the road is ridiculous.

Craigieburn is very nice in a way it has really nice parks. Aqua centre and shopping centres . But only thing I dont like is the hoons doing burn out at nights. And teenagers doing dangerous driving on aitken and the dirt bike kids they riding too fast on the streets Apart from that its nice the neibours are good..

Very good family friendly suburb with all the facilities like schools , medical facilities and transportation within walking distances. Many shopping centers, cafe's and parks.

Good school, good shopping centre, affordable, close to highway and station. Overall it's really nice living here.

Plenty of open spaces, parks, numerous primary and secondary schools. Another new secondary school opening feb 2020. Great to raise kids. Living here for the past 15 years, back then people from other areas used to call it crazyburn. Due to the old craigieburn. Avoid the older craigieburn. Plenty of bogans in that area. I see people here complaining about people from other countries coming and living here. What they don't know is, without those immigrants there won't be any craigieburn we see today. No facilities or shopping centers or splash. It would still be that old crazyburn with bogons.

I love this area, I have made so many friends since moving here the neighbours are lovely and invite my child to their kids birthdays. I've never had that experience before. Great family area.

Moved here from Epping and it is so much better I live in the highlands estate and it is very family friendly. I feel like everything is so close. Splash is 5 minutes away as well as Craigieburn central and the new Junction. Library is great. I'm very happy with the local kinder . I've only been here 1.5 years now but I'm really happy with the choice we made so far.

Very clean n well established suburb.closest suburb roxburgh effecting the reputation of cragieburn.but nvr think about roxburgh just look at the beuty f cragieburn.

I’m very satisfied with my decision to move into this suburb in 2016. It has everything you need -good schools, shopping , recreational spots.
The only downside is the commute to CBD (easily an hour) and the train station parking woes.
Population is a decent mix of blue and white collared professionals, and mostly families.
From my experience, thefts/break-ins are prevalent in every suburb and usually happen when residents are not vigilante enough.

Craigieburn real estate is doing very well and owner or investor, all will benefit. With upcoming retail precinct( Craigieburn junction) and the developing further north suburbs of Mickleham and Wallan, Craigieburn real estate is expected to get even better.

Craigieburn is a great family friendly place, which has a great community and is definitely a great safe place to live. Craugieburn is well connected to the city.

I've lived in the area for 11 years now. Started in Highlands then moved to another place near the golf course. It used to be a nice and quiet area but now has idiots letting off firecrackers every night, neighbours with barking dogs that refuse to do anything about it, clowns doing burnouts late at night and a general feeling of being very overcrowded.

Ever since the recent influx of people from other countries, the last five years here has seen the place really go down the toilet. People are generally noisy, poorly skilled drivers swerving all over the road and paying no attention to the traffic situation, along with the general feeling of being too densely packed.

What's worse is that number is only going to continue increasing over time until the area becomes unlivable. Will be glad to be out of here in about a year or so to a much quieter area.

I will be buying a house around the golf course area. Heard it's one of the better spots in Craigieburn...
Based on my limited exposure, it seemed nice and quiet... but am a newbie here so wanted to get some feedback on how's life in Craigieburn these days.
Also if you could recommend which primary school is better of the lot?

I cant believe all the negative comments about how Craigieburn has changed. It needed to change and has so much to offer now . Yes there r hoons but big deal they r everywhere. Ive lived here for 2 years now and it has so much to offer. Its a changing place and only for the better. Council is great , shops are clean , new estates are green and beautiful. I disagree with all the negative comments. I knew Craigieburn 20 years ago and there was nothing. Dont complain about getting everything !!!!

Overbuilt with tiny blocks, no body seems to care about how there property looks. Even the new areas are looking run down and uncared for. Property growth hasn't been as good as other part of Melbourne. Some very cheaply built homes which will make the suburb look like a slum area in the next 20 + years. Better value to buy in the older part of craigieburn as you can still get large blocks of land and land is far more valuable in the long term than a new house on a tiny block of land

I used to love this suburb but now it's just gone so bad. Part of the problem is the crazy growth that had happened in the last five years. The community feel is all but gone and the place feels like everyone is tense and on tenterhooks. I have never been at the receiving end of violence or crime but in the last few months I have twice been screamed at, and been spat at, my car was keyed and just today and idiot tried to run me off the road. People used to call it Crazyburn in jest but now it's true.

I've only just bought a house and lived in Craigieburn for the past year and I must say I'm very happy with our decision to move here. I lived in the west prior, but in Craigieburn I've never felt safer and have had no problems. I can't speak for the newer parts such as highlands etc, as I stay in the older side of Craigieburn on the Bridgewater side. I have a young family & stay on a quiet cul-de-sac, neighbors are all very friendly & all look out for one another. Kids play outside with the neighbors kids. A lot of nearby parks & lakes. You have a few shopping centres to choose from, Central, Plaza and Highlands. There's a lot of cafes and eatery places. There's the big Splash park opening next year & a lot of other new developments for the public. Overall if you have a young or growing family Craigieburn is a great place to raise your children with many facilities.

People steal her seedling from her front yard when she plants them. So she is now very disappointed. Whenever I visit her I do see what she means.

I moved into Craigieburn about 5 years ago and have seen this suburb changing for good. The new Craigieburn shopping centre has brought in great shopping facilities in a growing suburb and houses are generally quite affordable. The overall infrastructure is very good indeed. While traffic is growing but so does the investment and roads are being duplicated all along. Early this year when my wife found a job we had to ask local childcare centres for a place for our 3 year old and lucky me we found a place within a week. There are quite a few childcare centres and many schools both at primary and secondary levels. There are also state and private schools in Craigieburn. Craigieburn has proven to be a great family oriented suburb. Along with plenty of playgrounds and sports fields the new Craigieburn Library is really a great place for learning.
If you are a family and looking for an affordable place to live without making any compromises, then don't look beyond Craigieburn.

I have been in Craigieburn for 4 years and I love the many Cafes now established here such as the one at the new Craigieburn Library, Lago Fino, Degani, the Waterside Cafe etc. I also like the fact we can now eat out at the Highlands Hotel. The food hall at the new Craigieburn Central once complete will mean we will have great meals locally. Best move we ever made.

We moved to Highlands last year, we love being able to walk our dog through the beautiful park lands & play a game of Sunday tennis! The new shopping town square will be opening soon which is walking distance from us. I love the master plan of highlands...it has a great community feel to it!

Great place to live and don't be shy with your neighbours evreyone is friendly!
Most people here are always happy to say hello so don't be shy our children have made may nice friends nearby home, overall good investment
We didn't choose Mount Ridley for school as it is not the right one to get an academic education standards are low teaching kids are learning work that is a low standard so do your own homework everything looks good on paper but in real life forget it!
Other schools in the area have bus services so it makes it easier anyway.
Neighbourhood has many facilities in place and lots more if you can wait a bit
It's not hard to get around if you want to and lots of community groups to be involved with
Great place to live just wait and see!

I moved to Craigieburn Highlands in 2006 when I build my house here. I was newly married without any kids and my rationale for this selection was that Craigieburn has many transport options to go to any direction. There is Hume Highway, Hume Freeway and Mickleham Road which provides multiple options for residents to connect to different suburbs.
Craigieburn train station opened a few years ago adding another commuting option to CBD.
In last 6 years the population of Craigieburn has grown quickly and so does the facilities. There are 3 new schools opened in Highlands in last 6 years, including a Christian school, a primary school and a high school. While shopping options are limited but Stockland's new shopping centre provides some new shopping facilities with good parking options. This also allows Highlanders to shop within Highlands without going to Craigieburn shopping centre.
There are many bus routes now operating in Highlands.
Parks and street landscaping within Highlands is very good and really distinguishes it from other areas.
Now we have two kids and they are going to school and child care and getting a place for them was not a big issue. The distance to these facilities is less than a kilometer which means we can have a walk or a short car drive every day.
We are eagerly awaiting for the Craigieburn Town Centre which will provide the much awaited shopping options to Craigieburn. Once completed there will be no need for us to go to Epping or Broadmeadows for any big item shoppings.

Not to far from the city, airport, Hume Hwy, great schools, new shopping centres. new vibe as the infurstructure continues to grow. park lands are nice. Great place to enjoy the summer days.

Great place for getting away from the city and crowded suburbs although this place is going to turn out like that one day. Neighbours keep to themselves. Parking at the shopping centre is a nightmare as is the train station so thank God we have a new Woolworths shopping centre.
Desperately need a post office because the current one is hopeless.

Inconsiderate renters with loud music and neighbours with no regard on week nights.

If I wasn't such a greedy investment owner, I'd probably like it but I am stuck here now with a mortgage and I am going to make the most of it. Hopefully you lot on here can help me change my mind on some of the things I mentioned.

Yet another estate where people are binded so close together, you can hardly breathe

I have been here for a year and my kids aged 8 and 6 love it. They have made great friends at the new Mt Ridley Year 1-12 HighSchool. They have great parks to play in and we have the new Stockland Highlands Mall just around the corner from us. The mall has Woolworths, Reject Shop, Degani etc which is good for us. The teachers are very engaged at Mt Ridley and they have high speed internet with training rooms that are very child friendly. I a glad we moved to Highlands in Craigieburn and I would recommend this suburb as a safe reasonably priced neighbourhood.

I have lived here for three years and love walking thru the great under-rated parks and the large modern Craigieburn Footy Stadium in Highlands. The rail connection to downtown and bus connections are extremely user friendly for getting to work. The new Craigieburn Library is state of the art and will complement the new High Schools, public and private in Craigieburn. The new Town Centre layout by Lend Lease is a fantastic and will add value and character to a suburb that is forging ahead.

We are living in highlands and there is a creek infront of our house... absolutely beautiful area! the place is very clean and green! Alot of new restruants are opening up so no more going to nearby suburbs for dinning out! its a quite place! best for families but not much of a night life for hard party goers! Even though all our neighbours have dogs but you never hear them! before living in craigieburn we were living in a flat in monee ponds, even though the area was great to live in... our flat felt like a shoe box to me. I am so happy after moving out here as i like bigger houses and especially need a big proper kitchen to cook! The travel to CBD takes almost 55 minutes at peak hours and around 40 mins off peak! Near to Airport and alot of freeways and toll ways, so no problem reaching to CBD at all!

Good place for the kids to grow

Craigieburn is such a lively place. Its great for families since there is so many activities happening plus festivals etc. Hume city council is great.

The location is best because its not far from city and very peaceful place.
Go for a drive on weekends and enjoy the countryside..watch cows and sheep grazing, you can even see kangaroos!!!What can be more beautiful!!!

With the new shopping centre, its just going to be perfect so we dont have to go to Roxburgh or Broady anymore.

Craigieburn is also close to Sydney rd..where such exotic cuisines are sold..great for muslims since lots of halal restraurants.

Best suburb i have lived in and i have lived in alotttt of suburbs.

Craigieburn had real character. It has great sports facilities and very nice people. But there has been a new influx of people from other suburbs and other parts of the world and it has become very hectic and busy.

Craigieburn is an easy 25 minutes to the city and has great transport options including the train and buses.

Craigieburn already has some very nice shops and lovely restaurants and takeaways.

We love Craigieburn and had three properties there but we are on the way out and will move soon.

Am very sad to leave but it just does not feel like home any more.

Hopefully the council will recognise that they have dropped the ball and will try to make it what it can be.

Have been in Craigieburn 13 years now and it has grown too fast, however saying that it still has a friendly feel to it. It is good for families in the way that it is a community minded place. The best thing to do here is to get involved in the sporting clubs, great people here. The downfall is of course the shopping, the car park is disgraceful. Public transport is good however again, there is limited parking at the rail station.

Have lived in Craigieburn now for the last 24 years. It used to be lovely suburb with leafy streets and friendly and nice people. The newer parts developed since the last 10 years like along the lakes, the golf course and the Malcolm creek and up Mount Ridley are really nice but the recent developments near the horrible big shopping centre are truly awful small and tightly packed.. It is now noisy and busy with an unpleasant vibe developing.

It's a poor sign of the times when there local Safeway needs a security guard.

Sadly the old Craigieburn is gone and we are leaving too.

Lived here for 4 years on Axminster DR. Dreadful place. Prefer Roxburgh Park. Closer to shops & nicer neighbours.

Good place for first home buyers as you can buy a house at an affordable price. over the years it has developed quite a lot. There are a few schools around heaps of parks.

I like living in Craigieburn because it's out in the burbs but still close enough to the city. Close to airport, major feeways and larger shopping centres. Though it would be nice to have our own.
