Reviews of Doonside, NSW

12th February 2024

"Does not deserve the bad rep!"

Doonside may have gotten a bad reputation in the past but a lot of the demographics has changed since 20 years ago.

Lots of immigrant professionals and young families have moved here due to the affordability and convenience it offers.

I would say it is gentrifying if not already, and will continue to do so in the near future especially when the new Aerodome is completed in 2026.

This will continue to put upward pressure to the desirability and prices of homes.

"I love it here."

I have lived in Doonside 28 years now.I live on the North side in Earle st ,and on my side of the street we all have 1214m2 blocks.Unfortunately you can't buy in this street unless somebody dies. It's certainly a far cry to what they are building on now.
A five minute walk or less we have the Train Station and bus stop, the local shops consisting of bakeries,a supermarket,Auto parts, tobacconist, pub, hairdressers, numerous G.P's Chinese and other takeaway foods. We also have the option to drive to Woodcroft,Plumpton,Marayong,Rooty Hill or Blacktown for large shopping centres.
We have the fastest internet and are a stone's throw from the Orbital.
If you drive, it's only 2 minutes to Nurrangingi reserve for a choice of picnic areas, bicycle tracks, lakes and tranquillity.
I have never experienced a break in,vandalism or any unsavoury activity on my street, although i am aware that certain pockets of Doonside aren't so fortunate.
If you like land ,there are some streets with plenty of it.If you have plenty of cash ,there is always Woodcroft, for a sizeable double story residence. If you are simply a pompous prick that thinks they are better than the person living in the fibro houso job ,but can't afford Woodcroft, there is always Huntington Heights, all having the same post code.
I hope this helps..

"You have Huntington Heights and then you have the rest..."

Okay Doonside..I live in the Huntington Heights region and this area of Doonside is far better than the other side. The people here are obviously still working class but all homes are privately owned with a mix of souble and single storey houses, however there are more single storey houses. Moving north of Doonside is where the HC are and the people there are down right feral. I hear cases of people burning rubbish bins, smashing car windows and so forth. Some of the people would just stand in the middle of the road as if they own the whole place. In other words their attitude is disgusting, revolting and uneducated. They are like that because they're unemployed and are very lucky to be able to rely on such a genrous social security system.

Moving further north from the HC, is Doonside station. During non peak periods they come every 30 mins either way. Bear in mind the further west you travel on those trains the more dangerous it gets. Many cases of mugging and threats have been rumoured if one does not give spare change. From Donnside station there are a nice collection of shops which are becoming ever so popular. Then the rest of Doonside that are privately owned mainly have drug addicts and disorientated family.

IF you want value for money, safety and peace Huntington Heights is your best bet, Bear in mind to never walk from Doonside station to home as muggings are very frequent.

Great for

  • Look for Huntington Hieghts if you're a normal family, otherwise bogan please stay away. =.=

This rant is ridiculous.
"I live in the Huntington Heights region and this area of Doonside is far better than the other side". Of course , the side you live in is better, because you live in it...right????
I have been living in Doonside for 11 years. There are a lot of privately owned pockets that are not typified by "drug addicts and disoriented family" (ouch , check that grammar, educated one). Mostly I live amongst working people (trades people, school teachers, nurses, health professionals) whose children go to school, TAFE, university. I understand that all areas have their good and bad pockets , but I have not witnessed the scenes you describe above.
You do not know your own area as well as you think you do.

"Under rated suburb with quiet streets and strong community"

The suburb is undergoing a gradual transformation as much of the housing commission is sold to private owners.

Very well connected by bus and rail with Blacktown shopping centre only 5 mins drive away.

Extremely affordable compared to neighbouring suburbs.
