Reviews of Elanora, QLD
"Elanora, QLD – Favoured by Families - A Great Place to Live"
Elanora is one of the southern Gold Coast’s most established family suburbs, offering a relaxed residential lifestyle with larger blocks, leafy streets and easy access to the coast.
Positioned just inland from Palm Beach and Currumbin, Elanora appeals to families, professionals, upsizers and investors who want space and privacy while remaining only minutes from the beach, schools, shopping and the M1.
A LOCAL PERSPECTIVE
I’m Haines Osborne, Sales Agent at Property Boutique, specialising in Elanora, Palm Beach and the southern Gold Coast.
Working locally gives me a strong understanding of the different pockets within Elanora and what buyers value when looking here. It’s a suburb where position, elevation, land size, outlook and even which side of a street you're on can make a noticeable difference to buyer demand.
For me, good real estate advice is about understanding those details rather than relying solely on a suburb-wide median.
LIFESTYLE & LOCATION
Elanora offers a great balance between coastal convenience and suburban space.
Palm Beach and Currumbin are only minutes away, while easy access to the M1 makes commuting north or travelling south towards the Gold Coast Airport and Northern New South Wales straightforward.
The Pines Elanora provides supermarkets, retail, dining and everyday services, while nearby Palm Beach offers an extensive selection of cafés and restaurants.
Elanora also has several distinct residential pockets:
Lakewoods Estate – popular with families for its established homes, quiet streets and proximity to schools and parks.
Elevated pockets – sought after for breezes, privacy and hinterland or coastal outlooks.
Acreage and larger landholdings – offering considerably more space while remaining close to the coast.
Areas around The Pines and schools – convenient for families wanting easy access to everyday amenities.
PROPERTY IN ELANORA
One of Elanora’s biggest advantages is the diversity of its housing.
The suburb includes established family homes, renovated residences, townhouses, duplexes, acreage properties and substantial homes on larger blocks.
Compared with the immediate beachside suburbs, buyers can often secure considerably more land and internal living space for their budget while remaining only a short drive from the coastline.
Renovated family homes with pools, outdoor entertaining areas and good separation between living and bedroom zones are consistently popular, particularly when positioned in quiet streets or elevated locations.
Larger blocks also create opportunities for buyers looking for additional parking, room for children and pets, or simply more privacy between neighbours.
WHAT BUYERS SHOULD CONSIDER
Elanora is geographically diverse, so buyers need to understand the individual property and its immediate surroundings.
Some of the key considerations include:
Elevation and driveway access
Flood and overland flow overlays in applicable areas
Bushfire overlays around more heavily vegetated pockets
Proximity to the M1 and associated road noise
Land size and ongoing maintenance
School catchments
Renovation requirements in older homes
Public transport and distance from everyday amenities
These factors don't necessarily make one area better than another – they simply mean that property selection matters.
INVESTING IN ELANORA
Elanora has strong appeal as a long-term investment location because of its established family demographic and proximity to the southern Gold Coast’s major lifestyle areas.
Family homes tend to attract tenants looking for space, schools, secure yards and longer-term accommodation. Properties with additional bedrooms, multiple living areas, pools and good outdoor spaces can be particularly attractive to the family rental market.
For investors, the individual property is important. Maintenance, land size, property condition, rental return and long-term owner-occupier appeal should all be considered rather than focusing solely on headline yield.
THE ELANORA LIFESTYLE
Elanora's appeal is its ability to provide space without feeling disconnected.
Families have access to schools, childcare, sporting facilities, parks and shopping, while Palm Beach, Currumbin Creek and the coastline remain only minutes away.
Weekends can easily move between the beach, sporting fields, local parks and the hinterland, making Elanora particularly appealing to buyers who enjoy the Gold Coast lifestyle but don't necessarily want to live amongst the activity of the beachfront suburbs.
It feels established, relaxed and distinctly residential.
FINAL WORD
Elanora continues to be one of the southern Gold Coast’s most dependable family locations.
Its combination of larger blocks, established neighbourhoods, schools, shopping and proximity to the coast gives buyers many of the lifestyle benefits of Palm Beach and Currumbin with considerably more choice when it comes to space.
For buyers, understanding the different pockets of Elanora is important. For sellers, knowing what today's buyers value – from elevation and outlook to land size, renovation quality and outdoor living – can make a significant difference to the way a property is positioned and marketed.
As a local agent with Property Boutique, my role is to provide clear, straightforward advice backed by an understanding of the southern Gold Coast market and the buyers actively looking within it.
Whether you're considering selling, searching for your next home or simply curious about what your Elanora property could be worth, I'm always happy to have a conversation.

"Family friendly and everything within 10 mins"
We moved here recently and love it! We are a young family from Sydney (Northern & Eastern Beaches) and most recently lived in Melbourne (South Yarra). Wanting a sea change and somewhere warmer we moved up north. No regrets! Elanora is the perfect blend of country and beach as it’s right on the edge of Talley Valley with cafes, restaurants, beautiful beaches, countryside, walks, nightlife (Burleigh or coolangatta) all within 10 minutes. Residents are so friendly and welcoming to newcomers. If you are looking for a gorgeous place to raise your family but near the beach but away from the hustle and bustle, then this is it.

"A small growing community"
Elanora used to be one of those suburbs that you thought your grandparents lived in (and maybe they still do) but its certainly become a Hot Spot in real estate with many people wanting to live here. The benefits are endless, you still get the community spirit of a smaller community and local (less busy) shopping centres like 19th Avenue but you are only minutes to Palm Beach, Currumbin estuary, Currumbin Beach, Tallebudgera Valley, Currumbin Valley and all they have to offer. Its like you are the centre of the pendulum and whichever way you turn you can choose your destination and all within a few minutes drive from where you live. Prices in the area have soared over the last few years and properties in the popular area of Lakewood Estate are extremely popular. Living in privacy away from the hustle and bustle but only moments to cafes, restaurants, or even more peace of the valleys! Take your pick, Elanora is certainly a gem not to be forgotten.

"Best mix of country and city."
Everything you could want, quiet family friendly suburb bordering bushland and beautiful valleys. Lots of options for shopping at 19th Avenue, Pines, or Tugun. Easy access to the three best beaches in QLD (Currumbin, Palm Beach, Burleigh), close to the M1. And the biggest advantage, a cool sea breeze (I swear its about 5 degrees cooler here than the rest of the goldie!)

The freeway is great and quick. It was tough during the major works around Mudereeba and Reedy Creek (I had to drive it daily) but now that section is finished the freeway is fantastic. 12 minutes to Robina (during works it was typically 30 minutes!). The next section of works doesn't seem to be affecting traffic flows much at all, but by the time the work is finished from the Pines the freeway will be amazing, not to mention the new active transport they are building next to the freeway and the new service road.
Now that the freeway work from Bermuda to Currumbin has started with gusto, the freeway is very slow again with a constant queue down KP Mgrath Drive, howevee the short term pain will be worth the long term gain. Once work is finished it will be amazing, not to mention the active transport option that is being built which will run from the pines to reedy creek,
"Isle of Palms"
Bought a townhouse in the Isle of Palms, Coolgardie st, and my family and I love! Resort benefits, walking distance to all local amenities, very safe and friendly. Definitely recommend.

If you don't have a need to drive anywhere north of Elanora, it's a good place to live. The M1 is a nightmare even on weekends, so forget about needing to be somewhere north at a set time.
