Hallett Cove, SA 5158

Hallett Cove is a large, primarily coastal residential suburb within the City of Marion, about 23 km south of the CBD of Adelaide. There is a beach, (a bit rocky), Conservation Park (with significant geological features), mid-sized shopping centre containing 2 supermarkets, discount department store and a reasonable range of speciality shops, food court and services, including banks, post office etc. In the vicinity of the shopping centre is a Tavern, with drive through Bottle-o, Public Library, GP, Dentist, Orthodontist, Physio, a Vet, Real Estate Agent and Land Broker & petrol station. There is a good range of public parks containing some great open spaces, walking/riding trails including The Coast to Vines Rail Trail & Marion Coastal Walk (mainly along the cliff tops) and playgrounds, BMX Track and Skate Park, Oval, & Tennis Courts. There are a number of sporting clubs including Football, Cricket, Tennis, Netball etc. There are some government primary schools and an R-12 School. Public transport within Hallett Cove is served by a regular bus service and there are two public train stations, Hallett Cove and Hallett Cove Beach providing services to the City and suburbs on the Noarlunga Centre Line.

The best thing about Hallett Cove is the beach but we also have lovely people and a local business association so its a place you can make friends too.

I've been living here for the last 24 years and love they small country town feel,
The residents of Hallett Cove can be a little standoffish to new comers.
No Nightlife to think of except a front bar and pokies room.
The whole place seems to shut down after sunset, so make sure you have a good book or television.
Looking run down in some places because the Marion council doesn't allow subdivision of blocks.

Hallett Cove is a friendly and welcoming neighbourhood, home to an array of community centres, sporting clubs and shopping centres. And the huge skatepark right alongside a bike track and footy oval will definitely encourage the kids to stretch their legs!

Perfectly located near good public transport hubs and the Southern Expressway, and just minutes away from major shopping centres, schools, medical facilities and public amenities, this suburb offers all the conveniences and luxuries of modern living.

Growing up we liked living in Hallett Cove because we had a big grassy backyard to play in. Fast forward to the ages of playing sports and meeting friends around Adelaide and it became a pain. Then later driving all the way to uni, getting home from nights out in town, I stayed at so many friends places! Better for retirees. It is a very odd feeling living so far from the rest of Adelaide. People make a big fuss about driving out to you. Looks great out of the windows but forget lunch outside. So windy that we had an outdoor setting that never got used because of the wind. Good value in that blocks are bigger than the average and mostly well priced. Depends what you value though.

A large suburb with different areas having different advantages. Given the size, a car is usually required to get around as there is a large distance between the parks, shops, train station and the beach. However if you can find a house relatively central to all amenities, it is possible to get around by bike or foot, just be ready to tackle the steep hills.
Many houses feature ocean views or views of the national park.
The 2 train stops within Hallett Cove provide quick access into the CBD on an express train or to Marion shopping center.
Given the many houses were built in the 70's and 80's, some are now becoming run down and not properly maintained however this can mean some bargain buying at near land value with only a small cost to fix up.

I have been living in Hallett Cove for almost half of a year. I couldn't have imagined living in any other suburb as beautiful as Hallett Cove. Me and my wife go to the beach most of the days to see the sunset which is amazing. Neighbors are really nice and friendly. Easy access to CBD by train, especially express ones. Nice shopping center and also close to Marion.

I have grown up in Hallett Cove, so I have seen it change over time, and it has improved in some areas but become worse in other ones. The Hallett Cove Shops are much better than they were, with more choices in shopping, but it is hard for smaller businesses to get started there (we have had around 10 shops come and go since the complex was renovated). Pavana Park is a nice place to go with kids or to have a party, and once a year we have Carols in the Park, where the neighbourhood gathers to watch the Hallett Cove School choir and other groups perform. It has a great atmosphere and kids have heaps of fun on the playground together. (Actual fun, not picking on each other). Depending on your location there are amazing sea views, and a park next to the beach with an excellent family atmosphere. Our area is not an entirely safe one at night, and there were multiple incidents of breaking and entering near to where I live. Also, the older teens think it is funny to go out at night and obstruct roads. (We have been driving home and had to move TVs off the road and traffic cones). This is a rare thing but it does happen. There are also a range of cultures and religions in Hallett Cove. I would recommend it to people who enjoy walking, the conservation park is always a great place to go because it has changes in terrain and beautiful scenery.

Hallett Cove is just like another suburb has its advantages and disadvantages. Hence, my view on this suburb is therefore a subjective one. As for me, I have been staying here for more than 7 years. Nightlife is definitely next to nothing except with a Pookies opposite a church. But this again offers tranquility and safety to all residents in this area. Other than this, I see no reason to refuse staying in this place. I am attracted by the sea-view and its sunset and pitch dark sky at night with beautiful blinking stars. All facilities to facilitate human life is easily accessible and available. Good to be here!

I've been staying in Hallett Cove for more than 21 years but never bore with the environment which I live in. There are some shortcomings likewise other areas, but again it is very subjective. It depends on what you want in life. As for me, give me Hallett Cove or else nothing.

This is just a wonderful place for many reasons. I have been staying here for more than 15 years and I never bore with the seaview which changes at all times and all seasons. The people living here are friendly and this area is one of the safest in Adelaide.

Almost next to perfect in term of facilities, community and security.

Close to schools, transport, shopping and eateries. Love living here fantastic sea views and friendly neighbours.

Everyone will want to live at hallett cove when the new station is finished and the electric train system starts. Fast trips to the city.
More high rise and condensed living would be good to capitalize on those fantastic views of the cliffs and ocean.

We moved to hallett cove about 1995 and were excited with our new house. the area has close schools for pre-school to year 12. Shops were average back then until the shopping centre was built which has given a big lift for the area with a very good supply bus transport located in car park.
we enjoyed our years at hallett cove and our 2 children grew up in the area.
But...all those children that were going to school when moved to area have now grown up and now have cars. we certainly noticed the difference from then to now - much more noisier where we lived (about 1km north of shopping centre), can here many vehicle wheel screeching during the summer nights, more buses so more noise and plenty of rev heads up our street.
but that is not why we moved - neighbours aaarrrggghhh!!!!!!!!
The area is ok'ish now, but if you are thinking of living in the area, try find a house off the main road thoroughfare (due to cars / buses) and try to pick one with nicer houses around you - the scummier houses do have some lunitics near by.

One of few suburbs in Adelaide where you there is such a wide gap between entry level and top end buying. Spend as little as $320,000 for a roof over your head or take in a something special with no doubt spanning sea views and plenty of house for up to the 1.2million. Known for its natural heritage and conservation parks, sea views and some wonderful parks also come standard in this area. New shopping centre is great offering convenience to locals with two major food stores, Big W, Dick Smith and now with a couple of restaurants and take away food outlets. Two train stations make commuting to the city a breeze and there is plenty of local clubs which include the 'Cove Cobras' Aussie rules football team, Hallett Cove BMX, Scouts, Tennis clubs and Little Athletics among more.

Approximately 4800 homes reside in area. Many different nationalities - most of my experience has been Polish, English and Scottish and recently Chinese showing interest through the area.

A friendly suburb where everyone knows someone and lifestyle here seems pretty affordable.

A number of religious groups in the area as well as three schools including Hallett Cove R12 catering from reception to year 12.

Hallett Cove, situated about 20 kilometres to the south of Adelaide, is a popular seaside surburban town with a population of just over 12,000.

Forming part of the urban sprawl which has spread from Adelaide all the way to Noarlunga, Hallett Cove is one of a chain of neat and tidy suburbs that hug the southern beaches.

The suburb is well-serviced by public transport, with both train and bus lines, and is easy to access on main roads by car. The town has a number of shops and both a primary and secondary school.

It is a suburb full of neat brick family homes, where people may commute to the CBD or otherwise work in the southern region.

The beach itself is quite rocky, but still good for a long walk or a spot of fishing.
