Beautiful leafy suburb. We love living in Manning due to it’s proximity to the city (7kms) and river. When we bought here we didn’t even know that we were only 4 streets from the river so that was an amazing surprise. Now with a multi-million dollar facelift at the Welwyn shops the area is booming. Great selection of cafes and restaurants, and excellent schools nearby - Aquinas, Penrhos, bus to All Saints College for high school and Manning Primary and St Pius primary. Also Curtin Uni nearby.

The suburb of Manning is divided in two by Manning Road. The Southern side borders on the affluent area of Salter Point, the Northern side boarders on Como. This is a great family suburb that's really coming ahead. The area has evolved with the change of zoning, see many new homes pop up in the area. Offering Lifestyle location - approximately 7 kms from the City, Parks, Local shops, amenities, cafes the new Manning Community Centre (inclusive of Library and Toy Library), Manning Hub with medical facilities and an Early Learning Centre. Canning River - enjoy the cycle-ways, river-walks, water sports and fishing. Freeway Access - easy access North & South (approx. 2 kms) Manning Men's Shed; Manning Farmer's Markets (every Saturday morning), Government Schools, Aquinas and Penrhos colleges, St Pius X Primary Schools
Curtin University (approximately 2km's way) and good Public Transport links (bus and train). The new Freeway South entrance (scheduled opening mid-2020) will cut time for commuters heading South.

There are a few parts of Manning to be wary of but overall this suburb presents excellent value for money if you are renting or buying. Not a massive amount happening but great parks and a few good school options.

Manning was the poor cousin of Como and Waterford for many years, but thanks to the large block sizes, the neat grid street layout and park greenery, it's now more attractive and as comfortable as either of those places. For an area so close to central Perth (the CBD is only eight minutes drive away), the feel of the area is now solidly middle suburban.

Being surrounded by wide river and parks creates something of a nature belt that makes it seem peaceful and green year-round. Nearly every street in Manning has a lovely park or is close to the river. Many great conveniences are nearby...

Excellent schools. A burgeoning cafe scene. Lots of sporting and community clubs (rowing, tennis, football, rugby, bowls, and a great golf club are all on its doorstep). Lovely river walks and cycling. A new impressive library and community hub, and the convenient Canning Bridge train station is walk-able from parts of Manning (only one stop to Elizabeth Quays and Perth CBD train stations). The popular Manning Organic Farmers Market on Sunday mornings is a must-visit.

Waterford Plaza shopping center is conveniently located nearby. Curtin University, Technology Park as well as Como High School next door are within an old pine plantation and the tall pines give the area different look compared to the rest of Perth. A very short drive away is funky and vibrant East Victoria Park with its diverse cafes, bars, and Al Fresco dining, great on a Friday night! Less than 20 minutes' drive away is Fremantle and beaches.

Manning is probably the best Suburb in the South Perth Shire & is my 4th Preference for living in WA!

Great Transport Options (Canning Train & Bus Station, 25 Minute Drive to Fremantle down Canning Highway, 25 Minute Drive to the Domestic Airport down the Canning & Great Eastern Highways & to the International Airport down Leach Highway), Schooling Options (Manning PS, Como PS, Curtin PS, Collier PS & Como Secondary College) & Shopping Options (Welwyn Avenue Shops (Containing a Butcher, Baker, Pharmacy, Bottle Shop, Post Office, Fruit & Veg, IGA and a Clothing store), Waterford Plaza, Garden City Booragoon & Riverton Forum), Leisure & Recreation Options (Riverton Leisureplex, Geroge Burnett Leisure Centre & Park, Challenger Park, Sandon Park & James Miller Oval).

We moved back from QLD 4 years ago and was looking for a clean leafy suburb with nice community feel near the city. We previously lived in Ashgrove and The Gap. We were recommended Manning. It's the best advice we have received.
We have a young family. It suits our needs for multiple choices in daycare kindy schools private and public.

About 7 different bus routes and trains noeth south. Only a few minutes by car to join the freeway north or south. Part of the prestigious City of South Perth Council. The rugby club SPRL at the end of our street (parks) training. There are many things to do. Bowling and card clubs too. Curtin Uni just a few minutes away with bus service 7 days week. People are very nice. We live in Bruning Rd Manning and its a quiet pocket with no problems at all.

Manning is like living in a small community only a few km from city and very easy. I have expat friends who love living here, elderly people and professionals. Tightly held. Best buys are homes on original large blocks (that have not been subdivided.)

Manning is the forgotten sibling of South perth, while other surrounding suburbs command a considerable rental premium, manning with equal appeal, nestles un-noticed to be discovered.

Very relaxed and family friendly suburb with lots of local amenities. Close to the river, bush land and parks for outdoor people. For sporty types there are heaps of playing fields with footy, cricket, soccer and rugby teams. The tennis club, bowls club and George Burnett leisure centre also have great facilities. Welwyn Avenue shops has a good range of stores including a butcher, baker, pharmacy, bottle shop, post office, fruit &veg, IGA and a clothing store. Waterford Plaza is also close by with lots of eateries and supermarkets. Local primary schools are very well regarded and Aquinas and Penrhos are within walking distance. Community groups are very active and it has the friendship of a country town plus the advantage of being just 7km from the CBD. Getting around is very easy with good bus services and close proximity to the freeway and train line. I've lived in Manning for nearly 15 years. It was good when I first arrived but it just keeps getting better!

Other commentators have pointed out the aircraft noise. There is a flight path that goes over the suburb but I barely notice it and it's certainly not invasive. There is a degree of Homeswest housing but thisiis being reduced each year and most of the tenants add to the rich diversity of the suburb.

Manning is a wonderful family area. Lots of green, leafy parks and reserves that are very well maintained. Great local schools both public and private. Council amenities such as the George Burnett Leisure Centre, Collier Park Golf Course and Manning Library are very good . Plus the recently refurbished Waterford Plaza provides excellent everyday shopping.
