Reviews of Mayfield, TAS
"Convenience, Safe and Affordable"
I’ve lived here for 3 years and haven’t had a single issue. If you choose the right pocket, you can enjoy a level of living comparable to suburbs that are 30% more expensive, while still being just minutes from Launceston.

"Rising suburb"
Mayfield is a great option if you’re looking for affordability without sacrificing convenience. It sits right next to Newnham, so you get easy access to shops, schools and amenities, while still being only a short drive to Launceston CBD.
The suburb has been improving over time, with more well-kept homes and a better overall feel. It’s quiet, practical to live in, and offers solid value for money compared to nearby areas.

"Underrated suburb with lots of potentials"
Mayfield often gets a bad rap, but honestly it’s not as rough as people make it out to be. Like a lot of places, it’s going through some changes with gentrification, there are more renovated homes, young families moving in, and small improvements popping up around the area.
There are some streets to avoid but overall, it’s a friendly, down-to-earth place to live, and definitely more affordable than many nearby suburbs. If you keep an open mind, you’ll find it’s actually a pretty nice spot with a lot of potential.

"Appealing to first home buyers"
Mayfield is the closest outer suburb to Mowbray with a population of just over 1500 with an employment number of just under a 3rd of the population. The suburb is very close to the university with a good opportunity for investors or even first home owners looking to purchase around launceston. Mayfield is a 5 to 10 minute drive from the Launceston CBD with most conveniences in your nearest suburb (Mowbray) which is at the most, a five minute drive. There are pockets through out Mayfield which are public housing and other areas which are privately owned. If anyone is looking in the area or would like more info, do not hesitate to ask.

"Great for 1st home buyers"
Mayfield was initially a broadacre housing department development that, over the years, has seen more and more houses privately owned. With a median price still under $200,000 and on the way up there are some great bargains to be had. Schools are close by, there is local shopping and buses run into the city quite regularly. Also a great spot for investors to rent out properties as the University of Tasmania at Newnham and the Australian Maritime College are both just across the road. Also a few minutes further on by car is the Alanvale Polytechnic (TAFE) which also sports a Child Care Centre. The shopping centres of Mowbray and Invermay are just a few minutes by car and the centre of Launceston is less than 10 minutes by car.
