Merrylands, NSW 2160

Me and my partner moved to this suburb in September 2024 . We have noisy neighbours from bangladesh 🇧🇩 they always talked very loud and cooked at midnight . Have spoken to their landlord but things was never improved. Only good for shopping and restaurants. We do not recommend this suburb for couple or family.

I've worked in Merrylands for a couple of years and the only positive is the food & restaurants.

Merrylands has develop over the years to be fantastic suburb with an updated Shopping Centre, Multiple school and constant development of high rise apartments. Located a suburb over from Parramatta CBD and to access to M4 motorway makes Merrylands a convenient please to live.

Merrylands is a great place to live in, with all services that you may need in easy reach. There’s a train station with express trains to city and also trains running through Parramatta, also bus services. You can find diverse restaurants and cafes alongside Merrylands Rd, with yummy foods. Stockland shopping centre is a two-minute walk from the train station, and boasts a variety of stores, including Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, Kmart, BigW and Target and many other chain stores, you are sure to find products that you are after there. Merrylands also has several parks and grounds, gyms and a pool, and a great public library. Merrylands is a stone throw away from Parramatta, one of the largest business and shopping hubs in Sydney. The suburb changing and continually growing, developing and improving!

We have lived here for a bit more than a year and we are loving the area. Just two stops on the train from Parramatta and 35 mins to the CBD. Everything is a walking distance and so conveniently located to all local amenities. Neighbours are very nice and friendly and there is a wonderful sense of community.

When we moved into Merrylands the first thing I thought is wow this suburb is a lot busier then my last suburb. But it’s great it’s buzzing with people heading into Parramatta, close to the M4, crossing over to Westmead or visiting Merrylands Centre. There is a really interesting mix of old and young Australian Lebanese, Chinese and Indian which kind of works you can head into the stores and feel like your in another world it’s so diverse it’s great. Grab hot Manoush, enjoy some Lebanese chicken or even go shopping.

The area is pretty well sort after and when we purchased our 3 bedroom clad house in Merrylands in 2010 at $400,000 watched the property rise to 1.2+.

What I like is it feels like there is always somthing going on it’s not a sleepy suburb, people are chatty, you can visit the local store and say hello to people. They will teach you about there culture and look after you, it’s very family oriented as are the cultures that surround the area with younger generations finding it hard to move into the area.

What I also like is the change that is happening there is a heavy level of investment from Parramatta and Merrylands that both is seeing changes in the Merrylands Civic Square, High end apartments, many older houses that are not heritage are being knocked down and rebuilt. The infrastructure, gardens and parks are now slowly getting the attention they deserve.

The only downside I would of Merrylands is that the people around here drive a bit to on the fast side and love their cars but if you go to either country like I have to China, Lebanon or even India. You will understand why! I think they are doing pretty good trying to do better but a reminder to slow down to everyone!

Overall we love living in Merrylands as a young couple with so much diversity on it’s doorstep and an area that is increasing in value I think we will stay. ☺️

We moved to Merrylands last year from Sydney East. Main reason – affordable property prices and close proximity to station with direct and fast train commute to the City. So good we picked Merrylands as a place to live in. At a price of 1 bdr apartment in the area we considered before we purchased in Merrylands spacious and nearly new, great in all respects 2 bdr apartment. Good living conditions given current situation with Corona when we have to spend most of the time at home are becoming even more vital.
Area itself is rather good as well. It’s not gloomy as many other suburbs with affordable housing. It has good vibes in it. There is a big shopping mall – Stockland Merrylands, with all major retail and grocery stores. We hope area will change even more for the better with completion of new development with cafes and shopping strip around the station.
It has a good culture mix as well. People I know are from China, Korea, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Croatia, Macedonia, Spain, Russia and local Australians with roots from Netherlands and UK.

Have been living in Merrylands for just over 10 years and what a transformation. Stocklands is a great place to shop and has something for everybody. Beautiful authentic food and buzzing atmosphere along the shopping strip at night. Only a stones throw away from our new CBD parramatta.

Never felt scared as most of the stuff on the news is between people “known” to each other. Otherwise people just keep to themselves but will happily say hello when passing you in the street. Great neighbours, and a great sense of community and local parks/sports grounds for the kids

Location is convenient in terms of transportation - it takes just 35 mins to get to Central Station from here. There is a big shopping mall - Stockland Merrylands with all major supermarkets, department stores and many more. We had doubts because of not so good reviews, but at the end decided to buy property here, and I'm happy we did a right choice. I especially like area around the bridge with lots of new modern houses. I've never seen that many new developments around Sydney area as in Merrylands. Our agent says it is popular among Chinese investors as they see a big potential in this suburb. I meet as well a lot of Lebanese and Turkish people around, not that many Indians, as they prefer Granville-Parramatta. Our neighbors are Chinese, Turkish, Brazilian, Russian and Greek.

Nice and convenient place. You can easily find local foods and grocery shops. There is stockland mall that has all big supermarkets and retail stores.
Been living here for 4 years and everything is fine. I work on morning shifts and need 1 hour travel time. I walk out from home at 4.15, 10 minutes walk to train station but never experience any bad things.
