Mount Druitt, NSW 2770

Lived here my entire life and can tell the amount of development happening is insane and the coming airport this will turn into the business hub in West.

This is a totally awesome suburb. The neighbours are so friendly and caring. There is kindness everywhere. You can see that everyone just loves living here.

The schools are top quality here and you do not see kids roaming the streets like in other suburbs.

Very low crime rate. We've been here 10 years and feel totally safe.

Unbelievably convenient to everything - train, shops, the RSL club, pubs, coffee shops, medical services, schools etc.

I've lived in Bondi, Mosman, Pymble and Edgecliffe before and nothing can beat Mount Druitt. Life is great here

Nice quiet street, family feeling and friendly neighbors

We lived in Willmot for 12 years while saving for a house so I’m very familiar with the area.

The outer suburbs of 2770 including Willmot have very high volumes of public housing, even after a lot has been sold off 20-40% of each suburb remain public housing.

Speaking from my own experience, I can say there are issues with youth i the area and this comes from generational disadvantage.

I can’t say I or any of my family were ever threatened or harmed. We had nothing stolen.

We did have kids on dirt bikes riding around our house 24/7. We did have kids having giant parties behind our house in the empty field. We had plenty of cars burnt in our street. We had neighbours play music so loud it rattled our windows until 4am on Christmas Day.

The viaduct/flood path was full of trollies and rubbish. The nature reserve behind our house would have been great to walk in, if it was not for all the burnt out cars and piles of rubbish dumped around the the accessible parts.

I lived in Whalan and Dharruk from 1960 until 1990.
Geez, jersey road dharruk was a dirt road back in the 60's.
I never had any problems except for the occasional letterbox theft.
Other than that it was where I grew up and i still take drives to there now and then.
Good memories!!!

So I came from W.A. I had heard the stories about how wild Mt Druitt was. When I moved in, I thought I was going to encounter crime and lots of it.
I lived there in 2019.
I never had a single problem. I went to The mall often and I would walk around late at night Due to work. Never had a single problem. I actually was shocked about the negativity. Everyone was nice to me. When I was lost and asked for directions people would give them to me.

It was very multicultural which was nice considering I came from a very Wasp area in W.A.
I dont care what people say. You cant have ghettos with houses worth nearly a million dollars.
Don't believe how rough it is. Cause to be honest it isnt. I would happily take my family over for a holiday there. I felt that safe walking around at night. 10/10 would live there again

AS the Australian BORN Daughter of two parents that migrated here in 1985. My parent moved to Hebersham in 2002 form Arnedel park then bought up in Colyton. We have lived in and around Mt Druitt for decades. CRIME is everywhere just in case the person who judge areas by social levels of living. SHAME ON YOU there is no crime in mt Druitt unless u choose to commit it. What are these ppl on about I live in Colyton and drive into and around Mt Druitt everyday. MtDruitt Westfield is fantastic and yes I have a uni degree and am speaking up against all that judge and have judged this area for too long now. All these comments are made by thoughtless bias judgemental ppl who don't even live there seriously u can't even buy property in the area because it is in such high demand the area is booming, ppl are realizing not only have they been wrong about the suburbs but is demographic is now families. Don't believe everything u read .

My purse was grabbed and stolen out of my hands the first time I ever came to mot druitt. Terrible place, the police were of no help either.

I lived in Emerton for 17 years (1969-1986) and Lethbridge Park for 11 years (1989-2000).
Even back then Mt Druitt was classed as the Bronx by those who had only read and heard about the place.
Yes there were some undesirables about, but who am I to judge, apparently I’m one of them because I chose to reside there- I’d been labelled!
I went to school with some very intelligent people who weren’t much good at sport, and some fantastic sports people who weren’t exactly Einstein in the classroom, hey each to there own.
I walked dogs through the streets and paddocks of a night without ever being harassed.
I learnt how to survive in my environment and not become an easy target.
All in all, Mt Druitt has made me the person I am today.
I have a very successful business, employ 6 people, own a plethora of property’s, have a man cave full of motorcycles and cars and am basically living the dream.
I never forget where I came from and wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for good old 2770.
