"Excellent investment suburb"

Sick of Melbourne, we sold up and recently bought in Mt Lofty. It is in a beautiful pocket of Toowoomba, elevated (no flooding), with lush parks and views but only minutes away from the CBD, as well as schools, shops and services that any young family like ours would need. We have only ever met the kindest neighbours, and have always felt safe & peaceful here. Because it's a popular suburb, Mt Lofty can be quite expensive to buy in, but we found there are still cheaper properties to get into and have all the suburb has to offer. It's a great place to live, or buy as investment as rental crisis is severe up here with not enough homes for the demand of renters.

"Leafy suburb, close to the city"

Only a few minutes to the CBD, the traffic is light, and there are few roundabouts and traffic lights. It's close to good schools and childcare. You can walk to cafes, local grocery stores, and a couple of restaurants. Great bushwalks, bike tracks, parks, and playgrounds. The views over the city, the Lockyer Valley, and Ravensbourne Park are stunning.

"Lots of ticks and no public transport but great parking and bush walks."

My dog got a tick at a dog park here. No public transport and lots of hills so hard to walk anywhere. Great parking and plenty of parks and bush walks. Great views of the Lockyer valley from the parks and lookouts.
South Toowoomba is nearby and is a better suburb to live in but Mount Lofty is a great place to visit.

"Beautiful and peaceful family suburb"

I have lived in Mount Lofty for 4 years and it is a wonderful place for our young family. There are an abundance of great parks, excellent schools and good medical care close by. Our neighbourhood is very quiet, friendly and safe with lovely young families in our street. The area benefits from some great local businesses with gourmet foods stores nearby. There is a good community feel and most homes and gardens are well cared for. Overall it is a beautiful place to live.

Great for

  • Family friendly
  • Great schools, parks and medical facilities close by
  • Quiet and peaceful with the CBD only 5 minutes drive

"Mt Lofty"

We found Mt lofty lovely in so many ways. But our house had a huge problem with mould.
Mainly through the winter. We had to clean the walls 3 times. It was REALLY bad.
Apparently this is not uncommon here. Very foggy through winter. The crime is low, unlike the rest of Toowoomba. Although last year a number of properties and cars were vandalised in our street.
So overall, Mt Lofty is lovely, but like everywhere else, not perfect.

""Beautiful with old years character""

Approximately six years ago my family and I purchased a ‘cheap’ original character home in the Mount Lofty area and although we are still living quite happily there we would like to caution ‘buyer beware’. When I originally first signed the contract for this house my wife and I employed the best and most reputable building inspection firms in town that money could buy to carry out one of its most expensive and comprehensive building inspections and in that report it stated ‘we needed to budget away for a new roof within the next 6 years’. (Bargain right?)
Well, we should have known better as it turned out this little cheapie had a lot of hidden problems lurking just around the corner as on the first night half the roof blew clean off with a storm and within the first two weeks the sewerage backed up and refused to flow. Then after employing the services of a licensed roofing mob and also that of a plumber to carry out an evaluation of what then needed replacing we then had to immediately had to fork out a large amount that we had not budgeted for an immediate roof replacement as well as for the full excavation of our back yard, including our neighbours fence line and some of their yard as well to replace the original ceramic pipe work that from age had cracked and blocked flow. Since then the house has had a lot of other problems so in hind sight we would like to caution ‘buyer beware’

"Buyer Beware"

My wife and I purchased a ‘cheap’ original character home in Mount Lofty approximately 6 years ago and although our family is still very happy living in this area we can tell you first hand to exercise extreme caution to those houses on the market that ‘seem to be a great bargain’. We originally had the house comprehensively inspected when we first put it under contract by what was supposed to be the one of the best and most reputable building inspection firms in town and within their report it only noted one problem and that was that ‘we needed to budget away for a new roof within the next six years’.

Well in hindsight we should have checked things a little better because on the first night over half the roof blew off in a windy storm and within the first two weeks the sewerage backed up and would refused to flow. So I guess it was then pretty clear that our bargain had turned into something that needed a lot of expensive unforseen repairs with an immediate roof replacement and a great deal of excavation of the back yard and parts of the neighbours property and fencing to replace all the original underground ceramic plumbing. Along with that we had a lot of minor issues but wish to pre-warn anybody else that when buying a potential bargain- ask a few more questions to try and avoid issues like these...Buyer Beware

"Impressions of Toowoomba"

Toowoomba is The Garden City and there are many beautiful gardens here. It is also Queensland’s largest inland city conveniently positioned inland from Brisbane on the Great Dividing Range. To the west are the fertile agricultural plains of the Darling Downs. Despite its size there is a definite feeling of being in the country as this is a relaxed and appealing city with wide streets and limited high-rise buildings. There are 150 parks and public gardens within the city, many with creeks running through into nearby lakes. The infrastructure here is good and the air unpolluted. In fact they claim to have more medical specialists per head of population than any other non-capital city. Overall, it’s a very appealing and pretty place.

"A great place to live"

My family and I lived in the East Toowoomba/ Mount Lofty area for a period of six years and due to a recent work relocation we have since moved to Hervey Bay. In all I would like to comment on my family’s behalf to say it was one of the most beautiful places that I have lived... Mount Lofty was a great location that proved peaceful with friendly people, to have low traffic whilst being spacious and most of all very accessible to every direction of the compass. In all a great place to live.

"Good place to visit"

My wife and I are regular visitors to Toowoomba and the Mount Lofty Area. I have family whom I visit and local attractions that my wife and I attend. Some of the things that we like to do are visit annual Queens park flower festivals, attend regular horticulture shows that are held at the Bridge Street TAFE Campus and attend barbeques with my family at the free facilities offered by Webb Park. Overall we feel that the natural tree lined streets of Mount Lofty offer a great asthetic retreat from the general busy Brisbane life.

"Great Location with all amenties"

Mount Lofty is a peaceful location and it's high position means it has lovely breezes. It is close to shops, local transport and some of Toowoombas most prestigious schools. Residents are friendly and look out for each other.. This area is especially close to a lot of great common interest attractions and peaceful retreat areas such as The Cobb & Co Museum and Queens Park.

"Pockets of Mount Lofty are good"

Some parts of Mount Lofty are nice and quiet. Other areas have dogs that tend to bark every time something moves. Dogs here seem to be very annoyed by the Home Ice Cream van that rings its bell for hours and Garbage trucks, people wheeling their bins out and in, junk mail deliveries, leaves that move, phantom possums - they even bark at their own echoes. Some people are great because they take their dogs for walks to keep them happy. Others are quite content to let their dogs bark all day.
