Pennant Hills, NSW 2120

With great access to national parks, transport and local shops, this is one of the most underrated suburbs in the northern area

Like other suburbs in this neck of the woods you would think because of the low crime, access to national parks and high house prices that it would be a desirable place to settle. I find the suburb to be boring full of older people and very stressed mid-40s trying to understand why they decided to move here in the first place. There’s a history to this suburb but I don’t know how much future is on offer. I would imagine it’ll continue to be an expensive suburb 30km from the city but I cannot detect a distinguishing feature that makes this suburb unique and vibrant. Look elsewhere. Boring area with no imagination

I have lived in Pennant Hills for over a year now and due to easy access to both Thornleigh and Pennant Hills Train Stations I find it very convenient. We have the noisier Pennant Hills Road (which should get better with the new tunnel) with all the shops, gyms, childcare, supermarkets and then we have inner streets with a more suburban feel and parks and bushland areas that are great for a stroll. Some of the best schools in NSW are around this area (Cheltenham, Hornsby Girls, James Ruse Carlingford, Normanhurst Boys, Barkers College) and really good transport options. The small library could do with an update but is a great place for kids to study in and community activities. The village shopping area really needs an upgrade but it has everything one would need. We have Harris Farm, Aldi, Woolworths, IGA, Chemist Warehouse, etc between Thornleigh and Pennant Hills and if that is not enough, then Hornsby Westfield is just 10 mins drive. Doctors, Dentists, Therapists are easily accessible and we also have diagnostic centre and a pathology. Culturally diverse and welcoming neighborhoods. Property prices here are seriously underrated given the convenience and safety. Quality of living isn't any less than Beecroft or Cheltenham or Wahroonga. All in all, suburban living with a bushland feel.

Pennant Hills has some of the best sporting facilities, community shops, cafes and services in the north west region. Often mistakenly associated with the hills district it offers better value for real estate than its expensive neighbours in Beecroft and Cheltenham. Its public transport links make it accessible to the city, north shore and central coast and is a short ride to Homebush and Sydney's major stadiums.

Depending a bit on where you live in Pennant Hills (as it straddles a couple of quite different bushland systems) ... but it's quite possible to have a little chat to the wallabies and echidnas in pristine bushland near your place in the morning before taking a straightforward commute by train to the city. Not many places in Sydney where you can do that! You can even walk through the bush to Newcastle on the Great North Walk and the leg from Pennant Hills to Hornsby through national park is quite delightful, with tall forests, gullies, creeks and waterholes, not to mention the beautiful wildflowers. It's a very peaceful and safe suburb and there's a strong, friendly community spirit. It's in the garden belt of northern Sydney and being quite a bit higher than most areas (as the name suggests) it has gorgeous displays of autumn and spring colours across the suburb and almost a crisp mountain air feel in mid winter. Yes, the shopping centre is tired and needs an update but it more than covers everyday needs and there are large shopping precincts not so far away - a choice between Castle Hill, Macquarie Centre and Hornsby. Pennant Hills Road certainly is an ongoing nuisance but should improve markedly in 2019 with the new tunnel connecting M2 to M1, supposedly taking 5000 trucks per day off Pennant Hills Road, so you imagine this will soon factor into housing prices. Another big advantage of Pennant Hills is that it is not too far from the M1 entrance so it's very convenient for holidays and long weekend escapes up the coast, while also being convenient to M2/M7 to the city or bypassing Sydney altogether heading south. Out of peak traffic it is quite possible to be at the airport in around 30 minutes - I've done it more than once. All in all Pennant Hills is a very pleasant, peaceful and convenient place to live.

Pennant Hills might be overlooked as a desirable area to live in,but essentially it is really awesome.
The closeness of forests,national Parks,train,bus and the huge selection of excellent schools in the area make this a superb suburb to live in. Even though traffic can be difficult at times,where in Sydney is it not.
Quiet tree lined streets,beautifull houses from old to modern,huge blocks,pretty gardens entice all of us that live here.
Community spirit is very high,Public schools are good,rail access to anywhere the best in Sydney.
10/10 as a plave to live.

A suburb with excellent transport links for the City, beaches, airport and East coast states via train or bus services. Excellent primary and Secondary schools, both public and private along with choice of daycare centres and easy access to Universities. Fantastic access to medical and diagnostic services of all kinds alongside a local shopping centre and 10 mins from major shopping malls.
Pennant Hills boarders national parks and yet is only a 25min drive to Sydney Centre and just 35mins to the beautiful northern beaches. It has a quiet, friendly and relaxed atmosphere and that is reflected in the smiles of passers by. There is a diverse mix of people both in culture and age.
Housing types are also diverse in this treelined leafy suburb, ranging from beautiful old federation homes to modern new builds. With good size land plots there is a feeling of privacy and enough space to play in your own backyard and if you're lucky you may get chance to live in a house overlooking beautiful national parkland.

I have lived & grown up in the hills area since 1974 and can highly recommend Pennant Hills and surrounding suburbs to all that are thinking of moving to here.
I have found the area to be a very safe and enjoyable place to bring up a family.
Close to public transport options, retail shopping outlets & most importantly great schools are nearby.
