Reviews of Skye, VIC
"Middle of nowhere"
No amenities. I lived on Rocklea Cres and struggled getting to work. The train station is a 20 min car drive, with no other option getting there, and 1 hour into the city. It was stressful driving on the highways to work taking at least an hour and witnessing many accidents occurring daily. Your car value will decrease significantly and you’ll waste a lot of money on fuel/tolls. I couldn’t even find a high level job listing nearby. There are no shops, I struggled getting groceries after work. I even struggled finding a gym close by. Couldn’t step outside to go for a walk except on the road, with no green spaces. If you have children, there are no schools nearby. The closest supermarket was in Carrum Downs and it’s filled with junkies in the area. The people in the neighbourhood weren’t friendly, kind or intelligent with most lacking education, didn’t meet one person with a degree. No culture, class, diversity or strong community. Couldn’t find a Catholic Church anywhere. Good for people without hobbies as there’s nothing to do and nowhere to go. It’s not even close to the beach. Terrible for families. Maybe you’ll like it if you’re a bogan, uneducated, unemployed drug user. You can buy way better properties closer to the city, north south east and west, with better quality schools and amenities.
"Lovely area, close to schools, shops and transport"
Situated moments from major road arterials but with a lovely leafy environment. Skye is close to all amenities including shops, schools, transport, and parks. A lovely family environment and a great place to raise a family.

Beautiful, peaceful with a country feel. The only downside is the transport.

"Great place to live, where the suburb feels like the country"
We love Skye. With great shops nearby no matter where your home is, and trees in view no matter which estate you are in. We love that we can look out our window and have rural views. The people are friendly, traffic not congested and you can hear the roosters and other wildlife easily. The blocks of land are usually of a generous size also which gives you a little room to move. there are also some great parks around, especially the one in the Skye Valley Estate. The only con is the lack of public transport out here and the only way to get here is to catch a bus from Frankston :-(

"Safe, Drought Resistant, Plenty to Do suburb"
Well, we have done it. Bought a great block overlooking Golf Course and lake in front and large park in the rear. Cannot wait for the titles to be released. Purchased our block in the Medallion Precinct so we will be nicely tucked away but still close enough to be within 3 minutes bike ride to the club facilities.
Also cannot wait for extra shops to be built within next 18 months where the hotel was going to be built. These will service the suburb nicely.

"Great place to live a happy contented life"
Best part of the Sandhurst Club . Surrounded by beautiful green parks (with the recycled water we can water our gardens at any time, and day). 24 security, tennis courts, health club only walking distance away. Great safe place for the kids to play and for younger people to relax after a busy day.

I doubt those shops will ever be built for the same reason the Hotel wasn't built.... you have bought at a really bad time and if you can at all I would advise you to pull out of the contract and rent for a while...in your pros you mention houses keep their value.... we will see in 2013 http://www.whocrashedtheeconomy.com/
