Reviews of Thorneside, QLD
"Decent but secluded"
It’s not a bad suburb, it’s bayside Brisbane in moreton bay. If your use to the quality schools of Brisbane you may be left disappointed. It feels secluded and a bit end of the line. If you are travelling to Brisbane or Gold Coast often it can get old quick. The bay is not a very attractive area, but there are water views for the top spenders.
"Secluded peaceful quiet bayside suburb"
A destination not throughfare. Rich red soil that grows everything with beautiful parks and trees.
Enjoy dining and coffee at Blue Tongue Pantry Café overlooking Beth Boyd Park.
Stroll along Queens Esplanade to see the visiting international birdlife or go wind surfing off the beach.
Access the playground of Moreton Bay by launching your pleasure boat into Tingalpa Creek. Thorneside Shopping Village, William Taylor Memorial Sports Ground and Thorneside Rail on the Cleveland to Brisbane line.

"Friendly bayside living"
I was looking to buy in Manly, Birkdale or Wellington Point- had never heard of Thorneside. With walking distance to train, schools, buses, the water- you can't go wrong. It is cooler than where I lived in the inner city. People are friendly, it is just a really nice place to be. With prices so low in this area, it won't be long until prices reach the nearby suburbs.

"A beautiful spot right on the bay."
We moved to Thorneside over 5 years ago now and have never looked back. We are close to the bay for kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing and within seconds to Beth Boyd Park. It truly is a hidden gem. More recently the area has started to liven up with cafes, cycling and small events at the park but it is just enough to keep things interesting and still preserve our peace and tranquility. There is a lovely bayside walk/bike track along the esplanade that is well used by the locals. With its friendly and neighbourly vibe we wouldn’t want to live elsewhere!

"Perfect Place To Raise Kids"
We moved to the area 3 years ago to be near family after living in Norman Park for years. We had always had an inner city mentality and thought it necessary to live as close to the CBD as possible. We can't believe it took us so long to realize that bayside living is so much nicer. We wouldn't contemplate living anywhere else now. Waterloo bay is beautiful! There are a variety of parks and recreational areas to choose from. There are restaurants and cafes near by at Birkdale and Wellington point and shopping hubs at Capalaba and Carindale. My husband still works in the city and can catch a train either from Thorneside or Birkdale Station. I work on the southside and manage to escape traffic. A few family members and friends who have visited us over the years have also made the move to the bayside. It's the kind of gem that you can't overlook once you have discovered it.

"Ssshhhh"
Quiet, peaceful and lovely. Parks, bush, bike tracks, walking tracks which take you right along the beautiful bay and Tingalpa Creek, this is indeed Brisbane's best kept secret, and only minutes from shops either in Birkdale, Capalaba, Cleveland or if you want to venture a little further there's Westfield Carindale. You need never travel further than that unless you want to go to one of the major hospitals or see a show. A bonus is if you're a dog owner there are plenty of places to walk your pooch, and there's a great off-leash park at Aquatic Paradise, Birkdale which is within easy walking distance, taking in the magnificent views along the way.

Was keen to move to the area, but luckily I read about the midges. Unfortunately, that's a deal breaker for me :(
Yes although I hate to admit there is a downside to Thorneside, the midgies can get bad at certain times of the year but you just learn to live with it, coils, spray, repellents etc. Having said that, they seem to disappear completely for a few months at other times of the year, autumn and winter mainly.
"A great place for anyone who has a family"
I moved here a few years ago, and have to say that its a great place for anyone that wants a nice quiet place for children to grow up. I go for walks along the beach, river and around the neighborhood, and everyone is not only friendly, but also helpful... its has excellent facilities within the suburb, and also close by... Anyone who wants a family life should move here... its amazing!

""Wynnum" or "Manly" without the price tag."
Safe neighbourhood with a great demographic, water views, Esplanade walks, boat ramp, Tingalpa creek kayaking, 18km from the CBD and on a train line.
I moved here a couple of years ago and love it. Because it's off the main track it feels like a small coastal town. Reminds me of what Wynnum and Manly were like before wealthy people realized Brisbane was a coastal city.
However street by street, house by house the old cottages are being snapped up and renovated.
A lot of them are adding the extra storey and taking in the view over Waterloo Bay or Tingalpa Creek.

"Always been a quiet GEM"
Easily missed GEM of a suburb, much like Hendra is to Hamilton/Ascot, Thorneside is snuggled between Aquatic Paradise & Manly by the sea. Should I purchase in the area again, I would not sell.........
