Reviews of Unanderra, NSW
"place"
This place feels great with the community spirit that welcomes everyone. Old and new neighbours make one another feel at home with the family-orientedness. Schools and stores are aplenty so people of all ages would find something to do.

"All of your daily essentials in one suburb..."
Having worked in the area for the past 10 years in the real estate industry, I've had my fair share of experiences. The truth is, Unanderra has elevated itself in leaps and bounds as an overall suburb throughout my time here. So much so, I surprised myself and took the plunge by purchasing a home in the area a few years ago and another recently - that's how much I have enjoyed my time here!
I thought that I would miss the peace, quiet and seclusion of my former area however, I have found that my new neighbours are friendly and always happy to say hello or lend a hand and there's a brilliant little caf/eatery/grocer (Country Grocer) that provides service with a smile and a smashing coffee for those early starts!
Couple this with a large supermarket (Woolworths) and smaller boutique stores, local private schooling (St. Pius X & Cedars Christian College), public transport (buses, taxis & train station), local nursing homes (Villa Maria & Marco Polo), local medical facilities and local swimming pool. There is also an industrial area that provides many of your larger type services such as auto care, storage, various trades.
Considering all of the local amenities and the beauty of the mountain views along with a variety of cultures and housing, this area is definitely one of my favourites!!!

"It's home!"
For me its simple, Unanderra and surrounding suburbs are a great place for people wanting community spirt and a family friendly location. Only 10 minutes to Wollongongs CBD, 20 minutes to Shellharbour City Centre and a shorter drive to several award winning beaches. Several primary and high schools to choose from, parks, sporting fields, train station & public buses. Make sure you grab a coffee from the country grocer if your near by!

"Very Happy"
We have lived here 6 years and seen some great changes in not only renovations and knockdown rebuilds but in the local shopping facilities like Woolworths and local retail.
This area has good size blocks and is so close to everything including Wollongong and the beaches.
Im so glad we bought here and got out of Sydney and found a nice area to bring up the kids.
Talk about value for money.

"WE LOVE IT HERE"
We were in two minds before moving here as we had heard some negative remarks about Unanderra but we really love it here. Our neighbours are very friendly, it is lovely and quiet and everything is nice and close. In fact, we like it so much we are just looking at buying another property.

"Myth busted!"
Lots of properties around the $350,000 and $400,000 mark ... perhaps last chance to get into within 10 minutes of town, best Woolies in the Illawarra bar none, and easily the best public free pool in the Illawarra.
It used to be full of dodgy people, but this is a reputation that is largely based on myth now - like lots of places that used to be bad, as the oldies die or move out, young families coming into the area and within a generation the place is transformed. I have lived here for 7 years and to be honest, I have not had one hint of trouble - in my street there are lots of owners and well established properties which makes great street appeal.
Cheers
Dr S*****
