Reviews of Wannanup, WA
"RELAXING AFFORDABLE LIFESTYLE - SO CLOSE TO THE BEACH !!!!"
Wannanup, a suburb of Mandurah situated approx 13kms from the Mandurah CBD. Situated between the ocean and the estuary, Wannanup is the ideal place for family living. Estuary side, boasts the Port Bouvard Marina where you can launch your boat, bait and tackle store and Restuarant. There is a mixture of housing, ranging from the luxurious canal homes to weekenders. On the ocean side, of Northport, there are plenty of parks for the kids to play - all fairly well maintained by the local council. Beautiful beaches only short walking distance from most homes and the Port Bouvard Piazza which has some small shops and a Deli. Residents were hoping that a restuarant would be located in the Piazza, but this has not eventuated. Lots of pathways around the Port Bouvard estate for you to enjoy a walk or a bike ride with the kids.
Southport on the other side of the Dawesville Bridge, boasts The Cut Golf Course and the Mediteranian Restaurant. Also the new multi storey apartments that are nearing completions.
There are three great schools in the area: Falcon Primary School, Ocean Road Primary School and Dawesville Catholic Primary Schools. Closest High Schools are Halls Head Community College and Mandurah Catholic College.
We have lived in Wannanup on and off for the past 10 years. We have lived in other suburbs in Mandurah, but always end up back in Wannanup. We have always found our neighbours and people living in the Wannanup area very friendly, always stopping for a chat, if they see you outside your home or going for a walk. We have made many friends in the area and the children feel safe to play at the parks.
The Miami Plaza shopping precinct is only a few minutes away, with Woolworths, chemist, hairdressers and specialty shops. Also nearby are numerous fast food outlets, ie McDonalds, Red Rooster, Hungry Jacks, Eagle Boys to name a few. We also have a new library, doctors and dentists also in close proximity. In fact, everything that you need is only a few minutes away. A bus service also runs through Wannanup taking you into Mandurah and the train station.
The downside about Wannanup is the wind. In winter it can get very windy, being that we are so close to the ocean, but apart from that - living here is great. Summer sees many families enjoying the local parks and walks to the beach for a swim. The beaches are clean and the water crystal clear. The canals located in Northport are a favourite for locals who own surf skis to paddle around in summer.
Only a short drive away is Dawesville estuary, where many people like to go and picnic and launch their boats.
Well, I am sure there are many other things that I could have included, but Ill leave that to someone else. Anyone who is looking for a relaxing lifestyle by the beach, cant go past Wannanup. Why not come down and take a look !!!
