Wentworth Point, NSW 2127

I lived there for 3 years and started having vertigo, blocked nose and headaches that no ENT could fix, this only stopped when I moved.
Later I found out through research that the suburb was releasing toxic gasses constantly. They used to manufacture the chemical weapon "agent orange" in Rhodes during the Vietnam war and dumped it in the bay.
The bridge doesn't allow traffic because they were afraid the vibrations would disrupt the toxins in the bay. The bay pollutes 20km downstream hence the fishing ban allow the parramatta river.
40-60 million litres of toxic lecheates from the toxic mound are processed 3 mins down the road every year. 10% doesn't get captured and keeps leaking in the soil. It contamines the water supply and releases odors and gasses constantly.
The developers claimed they cleaned it up but it's impossible. The whole suburb is built on a landfill and neighbours a toxic bay.
Do some reserach and you'll find the same.

This suburb is growing and has something for everyone. Food, drinks, and even more in the future. Its a nicer feel that Rhodes and its just a stroll away.

This is such a nice place. The only issue is the one road in and out, but that’s not really a problem for us. We love it here.

I live at the one waterfront apartment complex. It is the noisiest and most claustrophic place I have ever lived. Theres no sense of community whatsoever and every second person has annoying botox lips, an annoying dog and an even more annoying child. I am only renting cant wait to leave I pity the fool that bought an apartment here!

Wentworth Point has an astonishingly high population density for a suburb which is literally served by one road in and out (which isn't technically even in the suburb). Driving on that one road is a nighmare, yet it has no rail transport, just buses or the ferry (which still takes 1 hour to the city). What's more, the north and south of the suburb are not accessible to each other. It might be better when they finish developing the suburb, but by then it will probably be crammed even fuller of highrise blocks. It has a waterfront, but this section of riverbed is toxic so you can't really make any use of the water other than to take the ferry. The suburb has many redeeming qualities, such as access to sports facilities in Olympic Park, not being too far from either Western Sydney centres like Auburn and Parramatta or the Inner West, and a shopping centre with an array of very useful shops. However (other than the shopping centre) to get to any of that you still need to be able to get out of the suburb!

With a marina, light rail, peninsula park, high school and nearby metro station all in the pipeline, this suburb will only get better.

This suburb has been over developed. It was nice at first but they should of kept a height limit of all buildings to 6 storeys. Now it's too dense, ugly and chaotic looking. And they're still building.

I live in one of the newer apartments near the water and have no complaints - Wentworth Point is clean, quiet, convenient, safe, and has plenty to do. Lots of options to eat out, several late-ish dining options, and you rarely have to leave the area for something - there's a Coles, Priceline, asian mart, hairdresser, spas, library, mobile phone stalls...it's quite the one stop shop. If you like Asian food, this is an excellent area. People here are (in my opinion) friendly, but not uncomfortably friendly - they'll smile and make some pleasant small talk, but I'm not getting neighbours knocking on my door to borrow ten bucks like I did in Potts Point. (I consider this a plus) If you check Nextdoor and Facebook communities, there's a decent amount of social groups - I know some people have monthly cookouts/potluck, there's a plant lovers group, a painting + wine place, etc.

If you drive (I don't), you're locked in and can only exit via Hill Road. Roads are narrow and roadside parking is dreadful, but most apartments come with a parking space. However, if you take public transport - the ferry is five minutes away, and the free shuttle across Bennelong Bridge gives you quick access to Rhodes, including the train station, parks, brunch places and Rhodes Waterside/IKEA, which is amazing.

Mobile signal is passable, but not great- I can make and take calls through my whole apartment (keeping in mind I live near the river), but it admittedly tends to die out at street level the further you get from the water. No issues with NBN, which is fast, but at least the building I'm in lacks Rhodes' FTTB options (which was even cheaper and faster).

You see a lot of single working professionals and young couples with 1-2 young kids, and that's who I'd recommend this area for. Plenty of dogs and community events for kids, and the library is lovely. WWP feels safe and pleasant - I like it here, and hope to stay for a long time.

My only problem with Wentworth Point is how much potential it has to be truly incredible, and how little faith I have in that happening. The light rail to Parramatta would have been a huge bonus for public transport, but it looks like stage 2 may not go ahead. Wentworth Point Park has been crawling along since 2014 at a snail's pace. It's a beautiful area, but the waterfront was supposed to be developed into a riverside plaza with shops and restaurants, and a landscaped walkway along the river (like Rhodes) - a wonderful plan, but is this even happening anymore? It feels like the riverside has been boarded up for ages. Developers keep putting up more and more high-rise apartments, which does nothing for congestion but development of public spaces for people to actually live their lives seem so neglected. That's the most frustrating thing about WWP to me - I like it just fine now, but if it could only maximise its potential, I think I'd never want to leave.

Did you know you can't actually get from the northern side of Wentworth Point to the southern side without going out of the suburb? It's true - the only connection between the north and south of the suburb is via Hill Road, which lies in the next door suburb of Olympic Park. And that's the only road connection between the northern side of the suburb to the rest of the world. (There's a bridge to Rhodes but you can't drive on it.) The southern side has one additional road: Bennelong Parkway. Yet somehow the suburb is full of cars and the streets are surprisingly narrow (for a new estate out west) and you can't find parking anywhere. Bottom line is, Wentworth Point is great if you can commute by ferry (there's a wharf nearby in Olympic Park). if you need to go anywhere else for work or shopping or whatever, you are buying into massive congestion and a situation where it's almost impossible to use a car, even though you are living in the western suburbs and so can't get anywhere without one.

I've lived in Wentworth Point for about 6 weeks now, living in an apartment across the road from Marina Square and i'm slowly getting to understand the intricacies of the suburb.
It is super peaceful, clean and quiet most of the time with a few randoms screams every now and then (I don't quite understand why). The water is just a few minutes stroll away. With plenty of green areas around, the nature is just beautiful. There are walking tracks and trees around.
The shops (including Coles, Liquorland and Hairdressers/Barbers) are a 2 minute walk away and the Gym is there as well which is fantastic. The suburb feels very safe even late at night I walk regularly even at 9pm-1030pm and there are still lots of people around especially on the Rhodes waterfront promenade (which is one of my favourite things of Wentworth Point).
I personally haven't met anyone during my time here so far (other than my apartment neighbor next door) and that's not to say it will change, but it feels like most keep to themselves which is fine (i'm an outgoing person).
One thing i must call out is the terrible phone reception here. I'm talking hopeless. If you dont have a new phone which has WIFI internet calling as a feature then you wont be able to make or receive calls. WIFI calling is a must!! If your phone does have that feature then you will have phone reception in your unit (its good 90% of the time) but as soon as you leave and WIFI calling is no longer active don't assume you will get phone reception or data (internet) on the street close to apartments, or in the shops - its non existent most of the time. I cant complain about the home WIFI though, internet speeds are great when connected to the NBN in your apartment. Public transport is quite good, the ferry is a 5 min walk away and goes to the city fast and is very convenient both ways. I will however mention that the ferry to Parramatta and return isn't very frequent and doesn't run til late in the night so don't assume that's always an option. The bus service is very good around here to Rhodes train station, they are very frequent so no issues there. The closest post office is in Silverwater which is about a 7min drive thats quite easy to access. Parking is horrific here, if you don't have your own car spot in your apartment then dont bother having a car. 98/100 car spots are always taken in terms of street parking and its a 3 hour maximum parking limit almost everywhere in the suburb. One other aspect to that is, if you buy UberEats or MenuLog you will most likely have to meet the driver on the street to collect your food as a result rather than them coming up to your apartment since there is no parking (something I never thought of before moving here).
Traffic gets congested during peak times, so i'd recommend leaving and returning outside peak times on weekdays and weekends eg. return 730pm onwards in the night to avoid traffic
Finally, the location of Wentworth point is fantastic and is one of my favourite things of the area. It feels close enough to most areas of Sydney for me. Whether I want to go to the City, the South, the East or the West nothing takes more than a 30 min drive to get to. So if you have friends or family all around Sydney you will never be too far away.
