Having grown up in the area my entire life I fell in love with templestowe and the local area at a young age and never moved on!

Remarkably only 16km from the CBD we are blessed with very little traffic in comparison to surrounding municipalities, with expansion ofcourse traffic has increased but is still very manageable.

The lack of a tram/train station is replaced more than adequately by a very frequent bus transport system. If anything it is a welcome change as it is for that reason that the congestion is avoided.

Templestowe has something for every age, demographic and working class.

From the trendy apartments and easy living villa units around Templestowe village to the sprawling prestigious trophy homes on acres blocks that present proudly on serpells road.
It is a suburb which has arguably one of the greatest ranges of homes you will hope to find in Victoria.

The unique character of the 1970s lucas Morris original homes still frequent the majority of the suburb just waiting be restored brilliantly by young families entering the area.

In terms of the older generations they are serviced brilliantly by some of the highest regarded retirement homes in the state throughout the suburb.

As for entertainment you are treated to the state revered Westfield shopping centre for all day to day shopping and high end department stores.

A personal favourite is the community restaurant and cafe hub at Templestowe village.
The iconic Templestowe cafe Carluccis I worked at as a teenager is flanked by wonderful restaurants and cafes such as Vibrante, The living room and 095 pizza bar (home of the awardee best Margherita pizza in the world).

As for families, the areas local schools are up there with some of the best public schools in the state dominating the top 5 primary and second school rankings year after year which is an incredible achievement.

Despite all the suburb has on offer for residents it is one of the rare suburbs which has managed to keep its parklands and not sell out completely to overdevelopment.

In Templestowe alone you have access to a ridiculous combined 200 hectares of parkland at Ruffey lake park and Westerfolds park alone!
When you remind yourself that within 30 mins you can be in the heart of the city centre this is an outstanding benefit people from all forms of life can surely appreciate.

What other suburb in Victoria do you have access to Victorias equal largest shopping centre, first class dining experiences, community aspects, high ranking public schools and virtually unlimited parkland?

This is not just an area I was grown up in,
it is an area I have every intention of enjoying the rest of my life in!

I have lived in Templestowe most of my life, and it's the one place I will always call home. I think the best part about Templestowe is the peace and tranquility (cliche i know). Some people think Templestowe is out in the sticks, but I disagree. There aren't cows and farm animals on every block...in fact there are large family style homes, very family friendly streets and a park on every corner.

Shopping is actually quite good as well. The Pines shopping center on the corner of Reynolds and Blackburn road has been renvated a lot over the past couple of years...and I'm always up there eating Nando's or getting a DVD up at VideoEzy (yay they have Blu Ray now!!). Also, Doncaster Shopping town is now almost complete, and that is only a 5 minutes drive away. It's getting a David Jones, already has a JB-HIFI and a fantastic food court with China Bar and a lot of boutique shops.

There is so much to be said about Templestowe...from the great parks, to large family style homes...but one of the best parts of Templestowe is the value for money. Many people see it as a great alternative to Toorak, Brighton or Canterbury. The reason for this is you get amazing value for money in Templestowe. You can buy a 3 million dollar mansion in Templestowe, 120 Squares, Tennis court, indoor pool etc...while 3 Million dollars in Canterbury will buy you a 45 square home, with a small backyard. Templestowe is also accessed by the eastern freeway, so being close to city becomes irrelevant when you can be in the city in 20 minutes.

This is a suburb I can't recommend enough. It's the place I call home, and I recommend you call it home too.

I lived in Templestowe for almost two decades and can say for sure it is an excellent suburb to live in, especially for families.

It's a suburb characterised by its balance between being decently close to the city whilst also having amazing parks like Ruffey Lake and Westerfolds which make the area feel really green and serene, along with providing some amazing walking tracks and beautiful areas to have a barbeque with family and friends.

There are no shortage of lovely restaurants serving cuisines from all over the world, and Westfield Doncaster Shoppingtown isn't too far away if you need to do shopping of any kind or want to go catch a movie at the cinemas.

Whilst this is all well and good, one downside is the lack of public transport in certain areas of the suburb and in the parts that do have public transport your only option is catching a bus, so it can be a bit difficult to get around and get to the city conveniently unless you own a car.

Overall, Templestowe is a fantastic suburb to live in with something for everybody!

Templestowe is a suburb geared towards people who have a good foundation in life, while keeping it distinct from other suburbs in Victoria. Templestowe's infrastructure is decent in terms of schools, elderly care facilities, and shopping centres such as Westfield Doncaster, but ultimately falls short in public transportation. Templestowe essentially hinges on you owning a car and driving it everywhere. If you are someone who frequents public transport, this isn’t the greatest place to live.

Templestowe is full of contrasts. There’s the lower part, and heights part. Really, it’s all up and down. It's full of sprawling new and old McMansions on acerages with pools, tennis courts, pony paddocks, and crackling dry Australian bush complete with the Yarra River and kangaroos on the other in Westerfolds Park. There is something for everyone, superb schools, several shopping precincts, fantastic bus network and nearby freeway access, and the most wonderful walk/cycling trails in all of Melbourne. The housing has changed over the years, with so many beautiful quality townhomes and larger acerage homes - both of which make very popular rental properties. We usually have a list of renters looking to lease nice family homes in Templestowe.
