Blue Haven

"A small community which seems to have been forgotten"

At first glance this area seems to be great for young families with some new parks, a primary school, child care centre and sports ground. But these things were obviously planned (and many of them executed) when Blue Haven was opened for development about 9 years ago. Since then many areas have beeen left with little or no attention to maintainance or repair. Some parks have been turned into rubbish tips of convenience, footpaths have not been laid through some streets and where there are footpaths many are in disrepair. The roads are also in quite a state and many need a lot of work. There is a lot of foot traffic late at night with its accompanying yelling and screaming. The roads seem to be used as a drag strip and the noise from this echoes throughout the suburb. A little more attention to detail from council would make a huge difference to this area.

I am not sure this is a fair assesment of the suburb. I live here! I have not found any of your feedback useful nor is it accurate. Perhaps you should move if you feel the suburb is below your expectations. The way you describe it it sounds terrible, or perhaps you should be an active community member and consult council with your concerns?

I agree, this is not a fair assesment!! I lived in Blue Haven for a few years and in that time I saw the suburb go ahead leaps and bounds. A perfect suburb for young families. When I lived in Blue Haven (a couple of years ago) the parks, centres and grounds had always been kept clean and maintaned. Im not sure what parks you would be talking about.

Where I lived (cul-de-sac), I never had problems with noise. Obviously you will hear the occasional youth coming home late fri/sat night, but hey, we were all young once!!

I could think of MUCH worse places to live on the coast and I think Blue Haven is one of the quieter and safer suburbs. I must say I have never heard anyone say a bad word about Blue Haven, until now!

Since moving into this area (of which we had very high hopes - it looked very nice...a good place to start out) we have had a number of bad experiences. Our local park seems to be a gathering point for teenagers out late at night drinking. There are fights in the park (and on the road) at least twice a week. We also have started getting people on their motorcycles and wearing gang patches going up and down outside our house. We can no longer let our kids play on the front lawn as it is littered with broken glass from alcohol bottles dumped over our fence. The childrens playground is covered in graffiti and broken glass is scattered through the soft fall around the equipment. The trees and shrubs in the park are not maintained and there is broken glass, bottles and garbage tossed here on a regular basis. Even the footpath is littered with broken bottles. Council is unwilling to be responsible for these areas and seems not to care. I am hoping that with the new financial year coming up they will spend some money and actually clean and maintain these areas.

A new development is about to be opened up with the sub-division of the aboriginal land between Colorado Drive and Roper Road happening very soon (planning permission has recently been granted). Blue Haven is an area with fantastic potential. I hope that its potential is realised and the areas needing to be addressed are looked after.

TJKTJK there have been a couple of issues lately that the police are aware of. I am guessing but I would say you live near one of the lanes that feed footpaths up to the higher streets. Summertime is always the worst with people out late so I hope it improves soon. I would suggest put your concerns in writing (if you have not done so already) to council as i have. I don't blame you for feeling as you do if that is taking place. If we all make noise, hopefully they will listen?

i have seen council out working in the local parks and around the community centre every day of the week and even on sat mornings. i ride on the local bike track at 6am and the council workers are mowing lawns and cleaning up so we have a lovely place to live. maybe you should contact council with your problems as it seems the rest of blue haven is loving life. i have seen a problem with glass smashed on the bike track some mornings but council cleans it up as soon as they notice it. some mornings i'll mention it to the guys and they go and clean it up. this is a problem with choice liquor selling glass to people who don't have consideration for others but this happens everywhere Add a comment...
