Chooks scratched around in the backyard
You had a yarn with your neighbour over the fence
People would help you out if you were in a fix or even if you weren't
You felt safe and secure
There was room to move
All you could hear was bird song and there were plenty of them in all shapes and sizes
People took the time to stop and say hello even if they didn't know you
Kids played outside in the dirt and went for walks because it was safe to do so.

This describes Wickepin for me. I bought a home in Wickepin 4 years ago and intend to retire there when I can. It reminds me of how life used to be before the fast cars, noise and hurry of Perth. The countryside is beautiful and it's only half an hour from Narrogin and 2 hours from Perth.
It is indeed a very fortunate place!!
