Mitford St

"Easy to understand the popularity and appeal of Mitford St"

The epicentre of Melbourne’s most vibrant and hip suburb, Mitford St has outstanding visual appeal with its diverse architectural styled homes/apartments along its tree lined wide boulevard & proximity to the very best St Kilda has including 100m to arguably Melbourne’s first & popular multicultural Acland St., 200m from historical & beautiful St Kilda Botanical Gardens & barely a 5min walk to the famous & again historical St Kilda beach &  a 10min walk to Elwood beach renowned for its sunsets.

Essendon

"No stigma here"

In some cliquy circles in Melbourne, living north of the river and especially to the north west, is encumbered with a negative social class stigma.

Definitely no so living in the grand old inner areas around Essendon including Moonee Ponds and Ascot Vale where you shall find some of Melbourne’s most gorgeous stately homes along beautiful tree lined street which would rival the inner east favourites such as Kew and Hawthorn.

Essendon also offers exceptional public transport options including trains and trains not to mention fast access to both the CBD and the airport.

Leisure infrastructure is superb with well established gardens and dining and shopping opportunities diverse and plentiful from famous Puckle Street to DFO .

Sunnybank

"Wonderful for families"

Sunnybank is a tremendous suburb on the southside of Brisbane affording great access to the Gold Coast south and fast access to Brisbane's CBD.

Reasonable prices justify its sought after status appealing to young families with affordable restaurants, diverse shopping opportunities and well regarded full facilities public schools.

My experiences living in Sunnybank sometime ago were all positive and especially impressed with the neighbourly feel of the community.

Kew

"It's worth it - Melbourne's premier inner east"

One struggles to find a negative about the suburb of Kew - being absolutely hypercritical , the only negatives are the undeniable high entry cost and that lack of a train line (albeit public transport options are very good including both trams and buses).

Living in Kew will give your friends suburb envy.

It's just gorgeous with some of Melbourne's most stately homes along beautiful tree lined streets.

Undoubtedly my favourite area is the Studley Park pocket adjacent to the sprawling parks and Yarra River.

Kew is blessed with first class public schools and world renowned private school options.

Great community spirit, incredibly safe and easily rivals the best of Hawthorn, Armadale, Camberwell but with far better proximity to the CBD.

Melbourne (CBD)

"Top end of Flinders Lane - The Mecca of why Melbourne is the most liveable city in the world"

Having lived in the top (eastern) end of Flinders Lane in my very favourite apartment building Sargood House for more than twenty years, I feel well qualified to review.

The eastern end of Flinders Lane is the epicentre of everything that is so thoroughly marvellous about the Melbourne’s CBD .

The highlights of the location are too numerous to mention however include

-surrounded by and at your door step by the city’s renowned and best eateries as well the historical theatres;
-metres from the gorgeous Treasury and Fitzroy gardens as well as short walk to the botanical gardens and
- easy 10 minute walk to one of the worlds best sporting precincts including the MCG, Australian Open tennis centre

The heritage listed Sargood House was built almost 100 years ago by the original owner of the magnificent Ripponlea Sir Frederick Sargood. It was converted by the architects Wood Marsh into New York styled and massive sized apartments in the late last century & is in my view one of the premier residential complexes. With only 24 apartments, the opportunity to live in this historic boutique building is keenly sought and for obvious reasons.

Doncaster

"One of the best of the eastern suburbs"

What more would young families and professionals seek from an established eastern suburb ?

Incredibly safe, above average land size, fabulous sporting facilities, highly regarded public schools and outstanding shopping makes Doncaster a deserved top pick.

In addition the location is enhanced by easy access to major freeways for a quick commute to the CBD and a weekend on the peninsula.

Port Douglas

"The Prince of the tropics of FNQ"

Forget chilly Noosa in the winter and head directly to the best of all Australian towns more akin to a village in the tropical north and where you will never need a jumper!

With an absolute abundance of activities nearby from the reef, the Daintreee, Mossman gorge, waterfalls circuits, bike riding trails , on shore and off fishing, world class golf courses etc, no holiday in Port Douglas will ever be long enough.

Distinguished from the paucity of venues in nearby Palm Cove , Port Douglas has a plethora of some of Queensland’s very best restaurants to enjoy.

Easily my favourite area to live or stay in the wider Port Douglas locality are the beachfront villas at the Sea Temple resort where you shall have the best of both worlds - quiet yet with immediate access to the gorgeous Palm fringed Four Mile Beach beach and the pretty Port Douglas village and with the crashing of the waves at night to guarantee you that long sleep.

Fitzroy

"Dare to call it “Hip”"

“Mecca of all things cool” and the “star of the (inner) north” are truly apt descriptions of another one of my very favourite Melbourne suburbs.

Living in vibrant Fitzroy is almost a right of passage to that demographic who has tired of the ‘suburbs ‘ and never want to be bored.

Start your search with the streets perpendicular to and between Brunswick and Smith Streets including Rose.

Great public transport, interesting architecture, walking to the CBD and gorgeous public spaces is just the tip of the enormous appeal - remember you shall need a bike ( resident car parking passes are precious!).
