"An Amazing Place for Families!"
What I love about Macleod is that everything a family needs is right here in one place. There’s the kinder right next to the park, which makes drop-offs and playtime so easy, and the YMCA close by where the kids can enjoy gymnastics classes. The maternal child health care centre is right there too, so those check-ups and appointments are super convenient. Add in the tennis courts, sports ovals, and Rosanna Parklands nearby for weekend walks or bike rides, and it feels like we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to keeping the kids active and happy.
Day-to-day life is just as easy. The local strip on Aberdeen Road has everything from awesome cafes for a quick coffee to a few restaurants perfect for family dinners, plus all the little shops you need like the post office and chemist to get errands done without leaving the suburb. There are also great schools close by, like Macleod College and Rosanna Golf Links Primary. With Macleod Park at the centre of it all, it feels like the heart of the community — parents chatting at the playground, kids playing sport, and families out and about. It’s the kind of suburb where you don’t need to drive far, because everything is right at your fingertips, and that makes family life here really enjoyable.

"Convenient apartment living for professionals and singles"
Lived in Melbourne 3004 for a few years. I used to work in the city every day so it was super convenient to get there by tram which took only 10 mins. As the suburb is just on the outskirts of the city, you don't get the mad rush of the CBD while still being really close by. There's also a designated bike lane all the way down St Kilda Road which is handy. I used to ride my scooter to work as well. If you need quick and easy access to the CBD, Melbourne 3004 is perfect.
Much of the area is comprised of big apartment complexes. Living in a big apartment building has its pros and cons. On the one hand it's very low maintenance living and many of the buildings have their own concierge. This can be handy if you're a busy professional. However some cons are:
1) Lack of on street parking.
2) Lifts can take a while at busy times.
3) Buildings often have quite strict rules about many things.
The suburb is parallel to Albert Park lake and Fawkner Park, both of which are amazing for walking or running. Although sometimes they do get incredibly busy. There's an abundance of really high-quality coffee on St Kilda Road and nearby streets. My favourite cafe was Mr. Percival on Queens Lane. There are great sporting facilities really close by with Albert Park Tennis World and MSAC just to name a few. Pre-Covid the nightlife and bars in the area were really good too.
All in all it's a great suburb but it depends on your stage of life. For a young, busy professional it can be perfect. But the streets are always really busy and everyone is rushing around, so it's definitely not the most relaxing environment if that's what you're after. Not really a suburb where I'd choose to raise a family in.

"Great family friendly suburb!"
We've just moved to Carnegie a few months ago and are very impressed with the suburb. It's a very family friendly community here with lots of parks and playgrounds, which is important to us as we're starting a family. There's also a great selection of restaurants and cafes with really nice coffee and food options everywhere. The Carnegie shopping strip on Koornang Road basically has everything you need. There's a new train station which provides easy access to the city in about 20 minutes. It's a great central location between the city and also not far at all from the beach. All in all it's a quiet, peaceful suburb and we are very happy living here!
