I spent quite a bit of time walking up and down Smith St about 5 years ago (wife was in hospital at the time with kids).

I felt a little unsafe at night, some drunken types, homeless asking for money.

Has it changed?

There are some interesting people but that's the same as any area I've lived in. I was in Armadale once and got approached for cash so I don't know - it happens everywhere.

Collingwood is full of great places and is safe - I lived there for 5 years and haven't ever seen a needle, drugs or felt unsafe.

The street drinkers can be a problem at times, aggressively asking for money, and their behaviour can be unpredictable and unpleasant, but it's not to the extent that it is unsafe, though it may feel like it.

Hey creating a list was so easy - it's now my favourite feature. If I were a business I'd do top things on the menu, top locations, top sales, it's endless!!!

We're working on the next list.

Thanks, I do have friends that lived previously just off Smith St, wasn't a cheap warehouse apartment and they loved it.
