"Close to shops, freeway, train"

Great location, close to city.
Easy access to all shopping needs. 5 mins drive from every shop you'll ever need.
Clean, well planned, plenty of parks, and sporting grounds.

Cons, not enough good restaurants. Wish there was more buses to the train station. Also trains were packed pre-covid. That was bad. Hope they will add more trains.

"An amazing place to live, whether your old or young!"

Williams Landing is the best suburb I have ever been to! I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to live here. It's clean environmental wise, and it has a super stable government. There used to be traffic due to road constructions however now that that's over, the roads are bigger and better. Everyone here is nice and our own neighbors are really generous. Williams Landing might not have any schools here but schools aren't that far unless you say a 7 minutes drive is long. There is also something called public transport if you cannot drop off your child at school. Medical Centres are really great! Nice tennis courts to play on and amazing tennis lessons provided. Cricket and soccer is also available for anyone. ((FLAMES IS A GREAT CHARCOAL CHICKEN PLACE! DEFIANTLY RECOMMEND! THEIR CHIPS ARE SOOO GOOD! IF YOUR VEGETARIAN OR VEGAN, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE)).

"Awesome prospects. Love the parks"

Excellent place to live. Love the parks in the neighborhood and if you're in the cedar woods Williams Landing estate neighborhoods, the train station is walking distance. Town centre still in progress and good quality eateries. Medical centres with everything you need.
People complaining about peak hour traffic need to take a look at nearby point cook where it takes my friend 40 mins just to get to the freeway or the train station at willaims landing. current congestions attributed to the roadworks which will get better.
i especially love the freeway access in minutes going either direction.

"Beautiful suburb, close to everything!"

Plenty of parks, running tracks and waterways near our house. Community has alot of young families so plenty of things to do with kids in the near by shopping centres and community centres. Roads are expanding so hopefully some of the congestion will ease.

"Suburb that can boost your lifestyle."

This is probably the best suburb around MELBOURNE specially if both you and your partner / wife work In CBD. I live near the station and walk to the station every morning (no need to find a car park in the morning). Train station, freeway entrance, Woolworth , cafes, Indian/Asian Supermarket , seven eleven, coles express all are about 2 mins drive from my house.
I hardly see any traffic. It takes only 25 minutes to reach to southern cross.
I find the suburb very safe and friendly.
Anywhere else You can’t have a brand new 4-5 bedroom house with all this being only 16 kms from CBD. I am very happy being in this part of the Melbourne. Leafy eastern suburbs are nice but I never wanted to downsize living in an old house and didn’t want to travel to 30-40 kms every day to work.
Schools are coming and getting better but area has some really great private schools including Westbourne Grammer School. I highly recommend this suburb.

"Congested & full of Crime"

In 18 months three homes within 400m of me have been found to be marijuana grow houses - 1 went up in flames in the middle of the night, another was raided by bikies on a quiet Sunday morning. My car was broken into in the driveway just a few days ago. Difficult to drive around in morning & afternoon peak due to congestion on arterial roads. No schools, but lots of parks. I don't think it is a safe area especially after dark, I suspect criminals & gangs are coming in from neighboring Tarneit & Werribee targeting the perceived easy target family homes.
Was good a few years ago, but I no longer recommend at all. I sleep with a gun under my pillow now.

"Suburb living is good but the commute is a b**ch"

Lovely houses (excluding the many vacant OS investor homes with overgrown front lawns). Town centre is nice & convenient as is the train station. Poor planning had led to increased amount of traffic cutting across from truganina / hoppers crossing over to freeway & point cook.
Whenever there is a major crash on the Princes Freeway in morning peak ( which happens regularly) you cannot get out of the suburb. Constant train delays and disruptions from Laverton Crossing removal don't help either.
Until the Palmers rd upgrade is complete in 2021, Old Geelong Rd (from Sayers Rd ) in Laverton (2022) and all crossing removal work on Werribee line is complete, I'd avoid this suburb if you need to commute to the city every day - the traffic is just nightmarish right now & only getting worse.
Crime is on the rise with African youths & theives travelling in from the nearby poorer suburbs.

"Fast commute to city, commercial development but no schools in the suburb!"

Pros:
1. Fast commute to city (talking about public transport only) williams landing station - takes 33-35 minutes to Flinders, 28 minutes to Southern cross station
2. Commerical developments like Target office, shopping center, future town center
3. Good for sports
4. Safety has increased and will keep increasing as the development happens, more people more vigilance as williams landing station is present will for sure become the safest. Be safe be it anywhere if you are not careful no one is going to spare you.
5. Community - Do not hate these suburbs just because they are on west and have mostly indians, chinese (asians). They have struggled overseas and want to make this country their home, no harmful intentions here. These are the people who are bringing wealth as well.
(More people, diverse culture -> economic growth).
6. kind of middle CBD -> Williams Landing <-Werribee, Geelong , given indians, chinese in the region might even open up a tech park bringing more revenue to council (Wyndham council look at this ... tech is the future)
7. Near to Point cook, werribee plaza not so far, altona beach, proximity to lorne etc. for day trips
8. Great potential
9. Community can come together as one. This will help the profile. I am sure education wise professionals with tertiary education so this can be the star just like east suburbs are and the west can become more prosperous. Remember **tech** is the key.

Cons:
1. No school in the suburb, empty promises by everyone from Councillors to MPs. But in general when I look at the way Australia plans things it feels like UK->Aus really screwed everything all over the world. Politicians in India (Congress) learned the tricks of not doing anything from UK substantially and just keep talking and planning about future. (Eg. 50 years and still planning rail from airport to CBD, West of Melbourne they made it like dump I mean seriously where was the planning, look at the freeway access and you will see traffic signals everywhere ask the planners to go and stay in US see the grandness in their constructions and learn from it) Consider that even you come to so called developed nations (Australia) and you are stuck in traffic (point cook traffic to get on freeway or buses taking 20-25 minutes for 6 kms what the hell)
2. No fun suburb, hopefully towncenter will bring the magic but public transport is fast just go to city or anywhere you want to have fun ...
3. I am guess not much of population and voter population less than what the politicians would care is hampering the development, I am sure will change as more n more people will get citizenship. This would happen to all of West metro and then hopefully the development continues.

My review might seem like sometimes too positive to too negative and throws an immigrants view on the whole living in West.
Please do not consider as this will keep changing as we move forwards. *Australians do not feel bad about immigrant talking about Australia in harsh tone but thats the reality and I believe true Australians love that atleast the bashing governments, big banks etc. ;). I am for progress!!!

cheers,
immigrant from India in West Melbourne Metro

Hi, Great review. I am planning to move to Williams Landing/Pt. Cook area. My child is year 10 and do you know any good schools (private or catholic) there in the vicinity.

neilf7

Politicians in India learned from the UK? Corruption is deep rooted in the Indian system and you know that. If you don't like anything about Australians then why are you here? You would happily live in a ghetto around your own race than assimilate, yet you'd put up a false face in front of the locals. You wouldn't live half as good a life in India so you should be grateful to this country for giving you an opportunity. I'm of Indian origin and I don't believe you're one bit like the 'true Australians' you talk about. Your opinions are bitter in taste and racially motivated at best
