Reviews of Yanakie, VIC

"Lifestyle living"

Nearby towns of Foster and Fish Creek have really good services. Even in big towns you have to travel 20 minutes to get anywhere and who wants to drive anywhere in cities? Country driving and looking at the scenery is beautiful.
A medical centre , hospital , churches , child care , secondary college and primary schools , supermarkets , pubs only 15 to 20 minutes away.
Yanakie has the lifestyle living without the clutter of town living and its right on the doorstep of Wilsons Promontory and the walks there can keep you fit.
Only a few dairies , but that means beautiful countryside . And rarely do I ever smell silage at all

Great for

  • Only 15 to 20 minutes to shops, schools and medical
  • And the nighlife is great , wallabies possums ,wombats ,owls, night fishingg
  • Parking is great park anywhere ,even on a beach
  • Beautiful unspoilt beaches and vistas
  • Local General Store (featured in a movie but under a different name!)
  • Quiet and peaceful

"A location with a secret - the real view is over the hill: FANTASTIC Parks and Recreation:"

It IS GREAT here for PARKS and RECREATION!
Located between Shallow Inlet and Corner Inlet, this place hasn't been 'found' yet; almost like an untouched Mornington Peninsula. Once off the main road, views of Wilsons Promontory and the Inlets open up on both sides of the peninsula. The temperature is more moderate that most people think - in winter not as cold as inland and night temperatures moderated by surrounding waters. Autumn-early Winter is a beautiful, still time of year, Summers are generally good but sometimes with wind and rain, and when the 'beasterly' Easterlies do blow, just remember, they blow everywhere else as well... Yanakie is generally several degrees warmer than temperatures recorded at Tidal River-Lighthouse

Great for

  • Beautiful unspoilt beaches and vistas
  • Quiet and peaceful
  • Local General Store (featured in a movie but under a different name!)

Not great for

  • 20 minutes drive to town
  • No local restaurants, minimal take-away at General Store
  • Dairies and silage can smell
