"How sad !!!"

I have lived in Albany for over 23 years, and I am saddened by the gradual erosion of the areas charm. It is being turned into a 2nd rate suburb of Perth. Many of the people moving here are trying to recreate the Perth lifestyle, why don't they just stay in Perth. Where will people go to get away from city hustle and bustle when places like Albany have been ruined by so called " progress". The latest abomination, the ring road has torn through the countryside with no thought for the environment, but the developers will love it.

"Albany review for families with kids"

Hi, I have lived in Albany for a long time, infact, i was born there. Albany is a great place for kids, the people are friendly, the schools are very good and kids there are well-educated. If you want a place for the kids run and not be all crowded, you can live in one of the suburbs, lots of farms are here and big plots. I live in a suburb and its quiet, peaceful, i live next to a farm, so i can hear the cows moo, and its calm. The neighborhoods have a lovely community. Great place for the family to grow old, there is Tafe in Albany so when the kids grow up they can go there if they want further education.

Sorry if my spelling is bad, I, myself am just a twelve year old, but i love this place, its nice to go to the local cafes and restaurants. I have many friends here. Good weather.

"Albany rent first before committing to buying here"

Albany is ok for living, however it is stuck in the retirement image and lacks support for families with children. Dining out is limited and not much is open during the weekend or holidays. To move here is hard as it's very clicky. If your not born here you'll have trouble fitting in especially for the women.

"The Perfect Sea Change"

Albany is a brilliant place for families and one of the most sought after retirment destinations in Australia. If you like the idea of walking down beautiful unspoilt beaches without the crowds or waking up to beautiful valley and water views then Albany is the place for you.

The people are friendly, the atmosphere is laid back and the summer weather is sunny without the heat.

"Nice area to live, cooler than Perth."

I lived there several years and loved it. However it is growing fast and I found the services not keeping up with the growth of population. Hospital for example is a shocker. And York street in the the centre of town is pretty enough to look at, but not very functional - the centre of town needs a whole new redesign. Climate is lovely and there are some super beaches.

"Southern city with good facilities"

Albany is 416 kms south of Perth and faces the Southern Ocean. Albany is a thriving city with a population of about 35,000. The main industry in the area is fishing, agriculture and tourism with jobs often available in these fields. The climate is cooler than the northern cities and towns of WA making it more comfortable for those who do not like extreme prolonged heat. Albany house prices are very good and affordable especially if you have sold in the eastern sates you can pick up a great bargain here and have plenty of change. Albany is well serviced by transport with bus services locally and for trip up to northern cities including Perth. There is a good hospital here as well as medical centers and pharmacy. Albany has primary and secondary schools both state and private with pre schools and kindergartens as well. There is a campus of the Great Southern Tafe in Albany and the city offers some excellent shopping as well as sporting venues with boating, fishing and swimming proving popular.

"Albany is a really stunning city. Not too busy and servcies southern WA."

Albany is city of variety in so many ways. Wildlife and wildflowers are amazing, there are stunning ocean views with so many bays, islands and inlets.

This is a city where you want to live if you were into nature and/or outdoor living. There are protected bays, ocean beaches, diving, whalewatching, nature drives and endless parklands, and the area is awash with history.

If you look at the area on a map you will see the layout and understand how there can be so many interesting things to do.

It has a very strong tourist visitation rate and tourists can drive down the coastline from Perth, or they can take the Albany Highway and drive through the country. Many people go one way and return the other.

Fishing is king and if you want to go somewhere where you are guaranteed to catch fish, then this is the place to go.
