"Aspendale- The place to be in Bayside Melbourne that has the country vibe"

Having grown up in Aspendale especially near Taylor Avenue, I got to say it is amazing of what you can get living in Aspendale when it comes to summer days nothing beats heading down to the beach for a dip before coming out and enjoying a late dinner most of us locals would go for Fish N Chips down at Laura St or Pizza Boys down at Station Street for pizza....or even Gracys Cafe in Laura St for brunch Aspendale's unknown secret when it comes to best sandwiches and coffee

For the families you can't go better then Aspendale you got the two primary schools St Louis and Aspendale Primary then having numerous of parks from Albany Crescent to the back to Aspendale in Taronga Avenue. Hence you also have two child care centres one being Aspendale North and the other being former Aspendale Central now Bonkers Childcare centre, Nola Barber Kindergarden is a noteable child care centre up Station St which is also popular.

I enjoy living in Aspendale because as a young person and not being able to drive its great to be able to walk 5-10 minutes to get to the trains which is the most popular way of transportation in Aspendale, buses are accessible only for students, occassions when the trains don't arrive or only on certain days.
I have lived in Aspendale all my life I have three generations of family living in Aspendale, you do get to see your neighbours regularly you occassionally get the wave and the usual gossip but mostly being a local you see more of people in your community at the local shops- everyone knows everyone around Aspendale...so don't be surprised if you become acquainted with a local and you hear about someone someone someone it tends to happen alot.

The traffic is very much the same but if special events are on it can be held back for a while, it can be difficult sometimes to get though Mordialloc but other then that expect the usual sort of traffic that is everyday.
There is some social things that you can do in Aspendale especially if your into sports your family can join the Edi-Asp Footy Club which incorporates Edi-Asp Netball, also theres the St Louis and Aspendale tennis clubs and the St Louis-St Brigids/Aspendale cricket clubs there is so much to do socially in regards of sports ..so if you or your family are the sporty types Aspendale is the best place to be. Aspendale Senior Citzens Club on Station Street and St Louis De Montfort Parish also offer social events and social activities for the older population in Aspendale so everyone can be catered for.

Dogs do bark at night but also be aware that they are popular along Aspendale beach during the allowed hours so if your a dog lover come down to the beach and meet other dog owners and their dogs its a great way to meet the locals and allow your dog to be familiar with the other dogs...plus theres a bonus christmas end of year party for them as well.

Aspendale is a great place to live for all people no matter who you are so what are you waiting for? Come down and live in Aspendale one of the best places to live in the City of Kingston

Looking for a home in Aspendale?

"Aspendale - paradise on Earth!"

If money were no object I would prefer Aspendale over all other suburb. Great for young families but prices are going to be huge very so as my Chinese friend stated.
The beach...the beach...THE BEACH!!!!!! No one is like Aspendale beach
Terrific people, although depending on which side of Nepean Highway you're from
Don’t be confuse with addresses - Nepean Hwy as most of little gem houses even on the beach are having Nepean address and a silly numbers. Why Kingston Council is so inflexible. Many of houses are having main entries and letter boxes from other streets. Hope they read this!
Luck of restaurants but there is a lovely Bridge Hotel. Even overseas visitors have thumb up for it. Better then St Kilda!

Great for

  • Beach access
  • Relaxed lifestyle
  • Access to the train station
  • The Beach

Not great for

  • Not much nightlife/shopping

"Beach feel with everything at your doorstep"

We moved from the inner north 4 months ago and don't regret it for a second. We were looking to buy further north, however decided to look at a place a bit further down the coast. After we drove through Mordialloc we were struck by the relaxed coastal feel of the area, and didn't look back from there. Compared to our old suburb where we were broken into twice in a year, Aspendale couldn't be better. It feels safe, people walk around here after dark, there is always a friendly greeting. Everywhere in the suburb is a short walk to the station and an easy/regular train into the city. The beach is 200m away and we can't wait till summer to walk to the water. Within a 5 minute walk we have a dr, 2 dentist, childcare, bakery, newsagent, post office, cafes, mexican, schools, sports facilities (tennis/football/golf). Southlands, DFO, Bunnings are all a 10 min drive, Mordialloc has a great range of restaurants and is only 5 mins drive, a 20min walk or one train station. The traffic on the main road can be a little busy, but given that we live on the main road and stopped noticing it after a week it isn't a huge issue. There are always plenty of cyclists enjoying the area and people seem to be getting out and living an outdoor lifestyle.

"Why would you live anywhere else?"

Aspendale has everything you could possibly imagine in the finest of suburbs. You hear of people from the inner suburbs and outer east who carry-on about access to services, shop and parklands, yet Aspendale has this plus even more! On top of all that, it has one of, if not THE best beaches on the bay. We live on the eastern side of the railway line which is relatively affordable but allows easy beach access, is buffeted by expansive parklands, Mordialloc Creek, golf courses, football grounds, bike and walking trails. The area is very well serviced by quality schools and public transport; with a railway station no more than a ten minute walk from any address. There's also new bus services which can even get you to the airport! One thing that will strike you is the friendliness of your neighbours. You can be guaranteed a pleasant walk, with so many beautiful things to see but feel rest assured with a smile and a hello from whomever you pass. If shopping is your thing, there's a beautiful strip shopping centre in town for all the daily essentials and Southland is a quick trip by car or train. Above all else, Aspendale is all about balance. Close enough to everything you'll ever need but just far away enough to experience peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle. Why would you live anywhere else? Get in now before it’s too late!!

Rentals in Aspendale

"Australian lifestyle lived here"

I have lived here with my family for 3 years. What a beautiful beach summer and winter, dog friendly, children friendly and all round Paradise at your fingertips. With pretty Mordialloc within walking distance, you can have the convenience of good shopping, dining and services without the hustle and bustle. Southlands & DFO is 10 mins away for the big shop. Transport to the city is easy on the train, transport home from the city late nights is done by train or night rider. The ride by car to the city via Nepean Highway is an option but we always go Beach road for the sheer pleasure. It is easy to feel like you want to stay within your community here, for us mainly because of what beach lifestyle offers. We have found our neighbours and locals tend to stick to themselves but that is fine with us. Our Church is close by in Cheltenham and our children have made many friends there who all live in neighbouring suburbs. Our kids have joined Mordialloc tennis club which is a fabulous facility. Old homes are slowly but surely being improved with renovations which should continue to increase the areas value, If more residents took more care of their gardens this would also improve the asthetics of the district. If you want a change from walking on the beach there are linear tracks through the wetlands at the back of the small suburb. sporting clubs, schools & small shops are available and the area is quiet and peaceful.

"Beachside living that is quiet & safe"

We have been living in Aspendle for 4 years and do not regret for a minute our decision to move here. There are parks, sporting grounds, sports facilities, wide streets, lots of beach access and a neighbourly environment. It's a bad day when you don't say hi to someone walking past!
It is easy to access trains from anywhere in Aspendale, and Buses run through various routes. Southland, Bayside & Keysborough shopping centres are close by.
Aspendale Beach is one of the best in Melbourne, and all homes in Aspendale are a short walk from the beach, unlike many other suburbs around the bay.
There are a number of schools in our suburb suiting a wide range of requirements - special needs, catholic, public.

"Close to the beach with quiet safe streets"

Quiet streets in a great area close to the beach. Long beach is right here, one of the best beaches on offer in Melbourne.
There are a lot of good walking and cycling trails near by to take you to the best places the area has to offer.
The area has some good public transport with the train not far from anywhere whisking you into the city. Although it can be a long ride for commuters.
There are good schools and kindergartens in the area as well as childcare centres making it convenient for families, especially young families.
There are plenty of good shops nearby so you shouldn't need to go too far to get what you need at good prices. But Southland isn't far away. Keysborough and Frankston are also within a short drive.
