Moving from NSW to VIC

So im in need of advice, my partner and I are planning to move to Victoria with our daughter, I have never been to Victoria before and would love some help in knowing where to move to. We are looking for somewhere more out west of Melbourne as I don't like living near the city, we prefer country lifestyle but I want to make sure it has all the shopping places we will need. I want to make sure its low crime and safe for our daughter.
