"Hidden Gem - warm climate - relaxing lifestyle"

Nestled in the heart of Queensland, offers a unique blend of demographics and a relaxed lifestyle that make it a standout suburb.

Demographically, Cannonvale is a diverse community. It attracts a mix of residents, from young families seeking a serene coastal life to retirees looking for a peaceful retirement destination. This demographic diversity contributes to a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, where different generations can coexist harmoniously.

The relaxed lifestyle in Cannonvale is undoubtedly one of its most appealing aspects. With stunning beaches like Airlie Beach just a stone's throw away and the breathtaking Whitsunday Islands within easy reach, residents can embrace a laid-back, outdoor-oriented way of life. Water sports, fishing, and boating are all part of the local culture, and there are numerous opportunities for leisurely picnics and barbecues by the sea.

Like with any suburb, you'll get the odd outcast that causes trouble, but they are far and few between in cannonvale.

"Great all round"

With its picturesque setting along the Whitsunday Coast, Cannonvale offers a unique blend of natural beauty and modern conveniences.

One of the standout features of Cannonvale is its proximity to Airlie Beach, which serves as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. This makes it an excellent base for exploring one of the world's most iconic natural wonders. Water sports enthusiasts will find plenty to do here, from snorkeling to sailing, thanks to easy access to the Coral Sea.

The suburb itself boasts a range of amenities, including shopping centers, restaurants, and schools, making it a suitable choice for families. The Shingley Beach Boardwalk provides a scenic path along the waterfront, perfect for a leisurely stroll or a morning jog.

While Cannonvale offers a quieter pace of life compared to some of the busier tourist spots in the region, it's still well-connected to the larger city of Proserpine, making it convenient for those who work or study there.

One consideration for potential residents is the tropical climate, which brings warm and humid weather for most of the year, as well as the possibility of cyclones during the wet season. However, for those who enjoy outdoor activities and a relaxed coastal vibe, Cannonvale can be a great place to call home.

Hello, my young family are looking at moving to the airley area but I'm very unsure still and hoping you could tell me more? We have boys aged 6, 7 and 11. Safe and family friendly is my number one goal but also important is good schools, sporting facilities, safe places to swim, shopping facilities , not super touristy and overall friendly/ good community with low crime. Oh and I want to be surrounded by beautiful green trees and some privacy. I basically want it all and I don't know where that is
Appreciate any thoughts/advice on the above!

"Love the Cannonvale lifestyle!!"

We love Cannonvale and think it's just great. Our kids are growing up here and loving it. They are always safe, there are good schools and plenty of sports to choose from. Yes, there not as many choices as the city but who wants to live in traffic, road rage, stress and neighbours that dont talk to you?
The parks and beaches are great with bike tracks, playgrounds and plenty of trees to climb. Walking into Airlie via the boardwalk in the afternoon for a balmy dinner at the lagoon is brilliant and even after 11 years of living here you still have to pinch yourself to make sure it is real.

Great for

  • Quiet, safe, so close to Airlie but without the noise

Not great for

  • More restaurants please!

I've lived in Cannonvale for 16 years. It has two major shopping centres. Bunning's has also recently opened. Centro Shopping centre is a big complex of which Woolworth's/Big W is the major retailer with others that include hairdressers, Proud's, BB's Cafe, shoe stores etc. McDonald's is on the corner. Coles is in the nearby Whitsunday Shopping Centre which also has a Target store. Most of the major banks are at the centre. It has cafe's, shoe stores, bakery, fish and chip shop, pharmacy, computer store and many others including Hungry Jack's. There are gym's in the area and automobile and tyre retailers. It's a suburb that has everything a family needs and maintains a pleasant living environment without the hustle and bustle of a bigger town. There are only two sets of traffic lights!

"A sweet and quiet escape from the busy city life"

Cannonvale is the charming little sister suburb of the much busier tourist central Airlie Beach.

- Cannonvale State School is a wonderful tight community who looks out for each individual student
- The recently developed Centro Shopping Centre is a great outlet for retail therapy
- Cannonvale Beach is still a peaceful little retreat
- The community is friendly and welcoming

In my experience Cannonvale has been a safe and caring community to live among, and whilst Airlie Beach has become much of a bustling tourist destination, Cannonvale retains a quaint and sweet nature - while being close enough to enjoy the beauty and lifestyle of being surrounded by the Whitsunday Islands.

"Airlie Beach benefits without the price tag!!"

Cannonvale has all of the functional town benefits of the are...shopping centres, schools, police stations. The backdrop of the mountains is very impressive. Some parts are fairly worn out and tired but these are generally away from sight. Some new development in the area has really lifted the quality of the buildings and if this flows through to the rest of Cannonvale as it is rejuvenated then that would be brilliant!!!

"A Poorly Designed Shamozle of Houses"

Cannonvale is poorly designed town near Airlie Beach. It is a horrible mix of Industrial, Residential, Tourist uses. Its terrain is mainly hilly and is mainly national park. The natural environment is under constant threat from development and a ban on development in Airlie Beach/Cannonvale needs to be put in place to protect the parks, wildlife and the Great Barrier Reef. The houses and land are greatly overpriced and are of poor quality.

Thanks for your honesty,

Im afraid the pricing has been like that for a while some are not realistic, which has drivern a lot of tradespeople out of town. Its not common to have multiple people living in a home as a means of saving rent as the rental prices are over the top for what you are getting.

Are you sure you rated the correct Cannonvale?? I am surprised that you rated all of the facilities as almost non existent

Cannonvale is a great suburb of Airlie Beach, if you are looking for somewhere to live that has everything at your fingertips without being jammed in with the busy tourist market then then is where you go. Every tourist town has a section where the locals choose to live and Cannonvale is that part of Airlie Beach.

Lashing out with such poor feedback and lack of honest ratings can only be a reflection of a sour experience this user must have had in our region.

Unfortunately bad experiences can ruin a thing, person or place for some people.

Hopefully people looking for honest feedback on Cannonvale will disregard this comment and pay attention only to the wonderful comment from other users.
