"Hidden gem of Australia"

We moved to Christie’s Beach from Sydney two years ago and we are so thankful we were lucky enough to find this suburb. Beautiful beach, lots of cafes, station, shopping centre, community feel. After living in Sydney we never imagined we could have this lifestyle and afford a 4 bedroom house walking distance to a beach. A few friends came to visit and ended up leaving Sydney for Christie’s Beach too! Hidden gem of Australia.

"Town has a great vibe"

I moved from interstate 18 months ago. I had never been to SA before. We started looking around to buy come to Christie's Beach and loved the feel of the town straight away. Close to everything. The beaches are beautiful. The people in this town are friendly I know that Christie's Beach had a bad image in the past but it's quiet different with all the new houses going up. I love that there is a differese age group that's what makes it so special.

"Gorgeous beach and lovely community vibe"

I lived on Fox Avenue and absolutely love the locality. Gorgeous and ability to walk to the supermarkets, cafes and eateries as well as various beaches. The river was excellent for Kayaking and the Winery region close by as well as the regular markets both in Wills ga for food and the local Christies markets. Lots of community events at the local park from beachside cinema to pop up wine bars. Loved living here and still have a house which I’ve had great quality tenants in due to nearby schools and transport.

"Local to everything"

Christies Beach really has everything at its door step. Beach road is the main attraction to the area offering a wide variety of shops, supermarkets, butchers, costume hire, petrol stations, fast food outlets, doctors, chemists and much much more. Who needs a car when everything is within walking distance.

I spend every Saturday morning sitting on the corner of Grundy Terrace and Beach road enjoying a chai latte watching exercise groups, families and dog walkers utilize the local park and beach.

I was a resident of the are for 1 year on Maturin Avenue and from this experience can speak highly of the area I was located in. Houses are affordable and we are slowly seeing new properties go up around in the vacant blocks.

If you are not looking at moving into Christies Beach, it is well worth a visit when you are in the area.

"One of the best kept coastal secrets in Australia!"

With a wide sandy safe swimming beach, affordable yet diverse housing, good level of local schooling and local shopping plus with the advantage of the duplication of the Southern Expressway in 2014 Christies Beach is surely the place to be!

"My home for 35 years"

I have lived in Christies since I was 3 and have always enjoyed the unhurried atmosphere. I am now very happy raising my own children here. There are plenty of choices for primary schools and many parks with playground facilities. Then there's the beach, which is open and clean with waves big enough to keep adults entertained, yet small enough that the kids can have fun. Shopping is well catered for both on Beach Rd and at nearby Colonnades.

Great for

  • Quiet
  • Facilities
  • Beach

Not great for

"A family friendly suburb with very high growth potential."

The southern suburbs in general have matured & have begun a journey of transformation, this is particulary evident in Christies Beach which is rapidly becoming the jewel in the crown. The recent expansion of Colonnades Shopping Centre which involved significant capital works is testimony to the coming of age of this district. The ongoing re-invention of Beach Road from Dyson Road right through to the Esplanade is also gaining momentum. The Beachpoint Development on the waterfront has been a major contributor to this process, and it's success will ultimately be the catalyst in providing confidence to other developers to take the plunge in developing this important commercial precinct.Other major works in recent years include the expansion of Woolworths and establishment of Fasta Pasta, the expansion of Coles, the upgraded Police Station & Court House and the refurbishment of the Christies Beach Hotel as well as other commercial sites.Residential development along the beach front and near beach areas has also been prolific.Where there were once old timber cottages we now have stylish brand new up market houses & townhouses. Along with this evolutionary shift in housing requirements and changing demograhics is the emergence of a variety of cafe's, restaurants, specialty shops & beauty salons to cater for our changing socio-economic structure.Despite this transformation Christies Beach has retained it's vibrant and friendly community spirit. This is evident with the tremendous turnout at the annual Beach Road Christies Parade, Australia Day Fireworks and other similar community events. The beaches are rated among the cleanest & safest in the State along with numerous parks and recreation facilities. This exciting transformation is still in it's infancy which should provide for enormous growth in the coming years.

"Fantastic location, great infrastructure, moving ahead at a great pace............love the beaches and holiday lifestyle"

Christies Beach has been a suburb to avoid according to some people..........our experience has been one of meeting the friendliest people, good mix of age groups. The facilities are constantly improving - more good quality cafes and eating venues, great improvement in housing options and prices still very affordable.
we love this suburb for it's holiday atmosphere and proximity to everything - even after a day at work walking out to the beach is sheer therapy
