what is Colac like to live in?

We are looking to move there but can't find much information about it. Climate, how cold in winter, hot in summer (like Melbourne?) Where the good places to live are, the good schools? People friendly or not?

Colac is a rural regional center, climate range is similar to Melbourne but not as volatile being further inland. Best areas are north of Murray St (lake side of the main st), older stock houses with larger blocks, many with lake views in easy walking distance to main shopping district, most other areas are ok but there are a couple of dodgy streets (if a house is 100k under the median proceed with caution otherwise you are probably fine). New estates in adjoining Elliminyt but I consider it poor value unless you get a view. Very friendly town with a very regional feel but all major amenities within the city, good mix of public and private schools and the waurn ponds shopping center in Geelong is about 40 minutes drive away.
