"A laidback version of Bondi!"

Coogee has the beach, a bustling strip of restaurants and cafes and a great sense of community! People are down to earth- most have who own property tend to live in it for the great lifestyle appeal.

"Good but not great"

The beach is obviously the big thing here. That, along with the variety of cafes and restaurants in the area mean there's lots of options to keep you entertained.
But there are a few factors that let Coogee down;
- despite the huge range of options, none of restaurants are fantastic. Most of them are decent, but none are good enough to get excited about.
- lack of good bars. You either have the Pav, which is just about the most pretentious place on earth, or the CBH which is basically just there for anyone how couldn't get into the Pav that night. The Diggers is probably the best of the bunch, and that's kind of underwhelming. The wine bar is extortionately expensive.
- the neighbourhood doesn't have much of a sense of community. 75% of the population is young people on working holiday visas with high turn-over rates, and the few true "locals" really stick to themselves, and seem to resent the presence of the former.
- the commute is really bad. Despite being only 8km from the CBD, it takes up to an hour to get to the city in the morning if you catch the bus even a minute after 8am. The light rail does not speed the journey up at all.

"Best Place"

I know there are other places to live but I just could not see myself living anywhere else. When you live in a place like Coogee, you do not just have a home, you obtain a lifestyle. Parks, beaches, clubs and community it is all in the one location.
Downside is night time down at the beach can be a bit full on, and bad behaviour can happen. A summers Sunday morning hen you are off to the minnows you often find the last of the evenings revellers on the beach

"Sydney most down to earth beach side town"

Beautiful place to live and plenty to do, see, eat and drink here!

Great for coastal walks but can be crazy busy in summer and parking can be tricky but would love to be able to move back someday when I win the lotto!

Enjoy!

"HIstorically Beautiful Coogee"

Coogee, once a seaside resort town in the early 1900's, has now become one of Sydney's most desired coastal suburbs. Offering crystal clear waters, some of the most breathtaking coastline, parklands and aquatic reserves, it offers one of the finest family friendly sandy beaches in Sydney. I have the pleasure of selling some of the most amazing real estate in and around Coogee, due to it's hilly geographical nature there is plenty of pleasant district and ocean views from many of its streets. The Famous Coogee Pavilion has just undergone a full refurbishment by Merrivale turning the headlights on Coogee food fun and nightlife options. I love this town

"I love love love Coogee"

What can I say about this place? Other than it is the reason I fell in love with Australia and never want to live anywhere else again.

Coogee is awesome in every way. Whilst Sydney does have a tendency to be a little on the pretentious side in general this most definitely does not apply to Coogee or 'The Coog' as I refer to it. If friendly locals, beautiful scenery, beautiful people, a relaxed vibe, whilst being close to the city and buzz is your thing, then this place is unbeatable.

I also love neighbouring Bronte and Clovelly, but compared to Coogee which as my title says "I love love love" there really is no comparison.

Buy here, rent here or just visit here. You wont regret it :)

"Coogee has that easy peaceful feeling to work and live"

Not many inner city suburbs can boast a beautiful beach, community spirit, parks, reasonable restaurants/cafes and all this so close to the city and the airport. Understated and purposefully so, Coogee, if it keeps itself from turning into Cronulla is and will continue to be a wonderful place to be.
A few issues need to be sorted out of course but transport in and out is great. Unpretentious but slightly sophisticated.

"Coogee - Excellent suburb with plenty of entertainment and great beach"

Coogee is a beach side suburb in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. Although basically a residential suburb with many houses and flats and units, Coogee attracts an enormous amount of tourists all year but especially in summer. The main attraction is the beach which offers fairly safe swimming and is patrolled during the summer season. There is a long promenade favoured by walkers and joggers and those just enjoying the sights. The parkland is great for picnics and BBQ’s, there is a children’s play ground and the parkland is dotted with trees offering some shade. Across the road is the Coogee Bay Hotel offering cold beer, nightly entertainment and a great beer garden. Apart from backpacker accommodation there are several large hotels, motels and holiday apartments. There is no end to shops, restaurants and cafes in Coogee as well as the normal fast food outlets.

"Beach living without the pretense and backpackers"

Coogee has to be my favourite place in Sydney and is about a fifteen minute drive from to city. Buses are the only form of public transport to service this suburb. This suburb is close to the University of New South Wales and the Prince of Wales Hospital. Although it is located in the Eastern Suburbs, the people here are not as snobby and pretentious as those in other suburbs and this is reflected by the cafes and shops around the area.

Coogee has a nice small but beautiful beach and Coogee Bay Road is home to many shops, restaurants, cafes, surf shops, banks, Woolworths and the famous Coogee Bay Hotel. All these creature comforts and the proximity of the beach has made Coogee an expensive place to live in. Despite its high rental prices, many still sought to live in this beautiful suburb and are willing to pay exorbitant amounts just to be close to the beach. Additonally, due to its high density of living, there are more residential apartments than homes around the area.

On the weekends, the cafes are usually busy as they cater to tourists and residents of the area. You can often see people walking their dogs, enjoying a picnic or a barbeque and you will definitely see many embarking on the famous Coogee to Bondi walk.

"Coogee is a highly sought after area as one of Sydney's beach areas."

Coogee is a great place to live. The beach is not very large but that is part of its beauty. There is a lot of rental properties around this area and is a popular place for singles to hang out. There are good park areas near the beach and a range of eateries available.

There are 3 main entertainment places; the Coogee Bay Hotel, the Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach and the Coogii Palace bars.

Coogee is such a great place to visit and there is a wide variety of accommodation from backpackers through to luxury accommodation overlooking the bay.

At the southern end of the beach there is a saltwater pool for those who prefer to swim in an enclosed area. One visit to the beach and you will just love it.

Beach activities are popular and sand volley ball is regularly held here.

To the north over the headland is Clovelly and to the south is Maroubra, both popular in their own right.
